Got this at a garage sale this morning. If it didnt sell it was going to the recyclers. I hope someone can share a sams with me..model 7151 service number 528.715840

No raster, HV is only 5kv. Good chance the crt is dead as most of these large bw ones always seem to be. I just cant say no to a tube set though

Nice save! It just so happens that I'm working on a '67ish Warwick built Silvertone Suburbanite 23" B&W console for a friend. Your chassis looks like it's a little more high end than mine. Hope you get yours going!

In your first picture, with the two smaller sets on top of the Silvertone's cabinet, Is the one to our right a GE? I like those sets as well.

one is a ge and one a philco. i got them too. they are from 77 and 83 solid state sets. both seem to work.

So you say there is no raster and low high voltage...is that with or without that blown cap?:D

That cap looks like it went south quite a while ago.

True. I've seen that type of dusty/gooey residue in stuff too...like the cap leaked ages ago but either it was still used (partially) or has just been in storage for that time.

Just took my bk 1077 and tried the horizontal plate drive and got the same 5kv. Not looking good. Have a feeling the flyback is toast. Will dig in deeper this evening.

Edit...looks like the filament in the hv rectifier tube is open. This is one i dont have a sub for. 1k3/1j3. Flyback looks good and tested ok with bk. Will find one later

I can hear the sound of that cap blowing, now. :)

Many years ago, I worked on a Sears portable B&W set with a cap blown like that one. The cap in the one that worked on was across the yoke and foil was everywhere.

After replacing the cap and doing some other work, the TV was fine.

I've seen that cap blow in various sets before, mostly GE. The set usually worked without it, but not correctly.

I'm pretty sure I have a Sams for this. If you want a copy send me your mailing address and I'll drop it in the mail. (a few bucks is appreciated)

I think any of the GT based 1v rectifiers will sub-pretty common tubes. 1B3, 1G3, etc.

I tried a 1g3 and same thing. 5kv and now that im looking at it at night I see there is no horizontal deflection. I am getting a dim vertical line.

The blown cap couples the horizontal section to the yoke to b+. Replaced it and got a solid very dim picture. Looks like a supper weak crt :sigh:
Smells like it has been sitting for years. Got the whole house smelling like burning dust on tubes. Maybe the crt will wake up.

After running for 40 minutes the sound and picture went away to a blank raster. If I disconnect the antenna i get static. Its like something failed in the tuner or if.....o wow the filter cap just let loose and filled the room with smoke!
