Motorola VT71M-A

New deflection caps and it works again! Now I have to order a new mask and finish putting it together.

Nice picture. Did you also replace the electrolytic and paper caps?

What's the rest look like? The picture is great.

The electrolytics are the original. I reformed them about 20 years ago and they are still going. I restored this set back then but had to use ceramic discs to couple the vertical and horizontal because the newer tubular type were not available then. They failed recently. The cabinet is somewhat rough but I am not a woodworker. I'll post pictures of it in the cabinet soon as my TS-18 sound went out last night and I'll be bringing it here to work on next. By the way, the original trouble that stopped this set from playing over 20 years ago was a 4.7 megohm in the vertical. I always liked these little sets! By the way, the date code on the CRT is 1943!

I recently got my Motorola 9VT1 going again (ballast tube). Although these sets can be a little temperamental, particularly the vertical hold, I am surprised at just how reliable they really are. Mine has the TS-18 chassis and performs quite well. I just wish the electrostatic CRTs were a bit brighter.
