Majestic Radio ID

Does anyone know the model number of this Majestic radio?

Of course it's too much money but if you can talk rationally to the owner....

It's a 1927 Model 72. Personally I think it would be a sin to install modern audio equipment in the cabinet.

It could also be a Model 70, I've seen one with the same cabinet. In fact, I'm bringing the one I've seen home this coming weekend.

The chassis would indeed be a model 70. The cabinet it's stuffed into usually has a different number. I have a Majestic 71. The chassis that is in it is a 70-B. It gets a bit confusing when people list them because they often look at the plate on the chassis rather than the plate on the cabinet.

I'm pretty sure the model of the cabinet is 72 for the one shown.

Here's an example:

I just came from seeing the radio. It was a model 70.

What a mess. The cabinet doors are missing and the top is cracked. They had started to refinish it. Poor job.

They still wanted their price. I normally don't do this but considering the condition of the cabinet, I asked if they would consider selling the chassis and speaker separately.

I gave them $40.00 for the chassis (with globe tubes) and the speaker.

I really don't like parting out radios but not much choice this time.

What idiots they are to mess up a nice old radio. Well, at least you saved the chassis from "da bin."
