I have the exact same set,,, Mine is my daily TV... the brightner may not be needed on the set... As the high voltage on these sets.. seems to need a lot of attention... mine is a great performer...

Well, it shows a raster.

The item description states that "the (CRT) comes on but no channels come in, probably because of the recent digital transition". This does not help anyone who wants to know if the TV works or not, as far as getting stations is concerned; all the seller apparently knows at this point is that there is light on the screen (a raster to us AKers and to TV techs)--the condition of the sound circuits is unknown (the sound could be dead), and as such is not mentioned. The seller should have connected the TV to a converter box (or to cable) if he or she has a box or a cable hookup before writing the description; that way, at very least he or she would know if the set's signal circuits are operating (at least on one channel--the box's RF output channel, and all [or most] VHF channels if he or she has cable and connects it directly to the VHF antenna terminals; a converter box would not be needed).
