Looks like about a 1952ish Motorola. I wonder if that cabinet is original or home brew? I have never seen one. Looks odd but worth saving. I hate it when they don't give a price, they're hoping someone offers something ridiculous for it. Offer 20 and go from there:)

Mark:

Motos of that vintage did not have a pencil box between the knobs like that set has.

Thanks Steve! I was wondering about that, I was going with screen shape and bezel and I guess that is too vague. Didn't the Sylvanias of the time have a pencil box kinda like that?

the electronics looks like some of those basement sets from the housing boom of the 50s.i have seen that set more than a few times here in columbus.many homes built after the war had a set built in the wall of the basement and some folks even built their own cabinets.i was in foundation work for quite awhile and saw many finished basements.that set is very common, yet ,i havent found one that works.the owners will not part with them either!!

There was a Motorola on craigslist a few months ago built into the basement wall just like you described. Not working of course. I think they were only asking $25 for it. I should have grabbed it just for the picture tube. Oh well.

As for this beast, there's no way I can handle something that big! I'm just curious as to what it is. Maybe I'll swing by and take a look if I find the time.

This one has had a larger crt upgrade kit with bezel installed. This probably started out with a 10BP4 round crt and now has a 14EP4 or similar rectangular crt installed. I have a RCA with the same kit installed. This was a common mod done back then when someone had a perfectly good tv but wanted a larger screen size. It was more economical to upgrade than replace with a new set for some.
