i know this may not be the place to ask about transmitter tubes,but anyone know what this large tube was used for??

WOW that thing is bigger than an 813 tube! During WW2, the duds were probably used as projectiles to take out the enemy!

That tube is a 12 Megawatt Thyratron - 25 KV peak anode voltage, 1000 Amps peak current. Not a transmitting tube; definitely an industrial type, perhaps used by electric utilities.

Thyratrons are used for a broad spectrum of high power switching applications such as medical lasers. The thyratron is an electronic, repetitive "on" switch used to generate trains of high voltage energy; accurately timed and precisely spaced pulses.

that was a Flux Capacitor, easy enough to obtain, but where are you going to get the 1.21 Jigawatts (or is it Gigawatts?) of power needed to operate it?

Also If you go looking for Plutonium these days you will certainly wind up in jail as a suspected terrorist!

Your Galaxy 500 is also heavier and isn't made of Stainless Steel so it might actually take a bit more power than that!


If you have the 390cu engine with a 4 bbl carb getting up to 88 mph shouldn't be a problem. Getting it stopped in a reasonable amount of time with 4 wheel drum brakes might be difficult however
