My friend gave me this one. It was headed to the trashman otherwise. It's from 1984 and still works quite well. All I did was focus it up and adjust the drive controls. Sadly the cabinet is beat to hell though.

My other friend is taking it to his upstate house soon so it'll have a good home. Good thing it has an auxiliary input for DVD use or else it would be trash for sure.

Interesting set though.

Good to hear it is still working. The tuner, unfortunately, will be obsolete this June ;))
It has good enough resolution to look great with an HD adaptor box.

I was pretty impressed with the pix quality after some tuneup as well. Seems like it is pretty particular to placement and ambient light level for the best overall picture. After some set-up time it rocks. The sound quality is very solid, too.

It was said back in the day that Henry made and sold the Advent speakers strictly to provide a steady revenue stream to fund the development of the Novabeam, his real focus at the time.

For those who didn't live through those years, the Novabeam stood to be a revolutionary product!

There wasn't any "new ground" broken by the Advent speaker, it was just another refinement of several of the speakers that had been produced by KLH earlier. This is not a criticism of the Advent, but it wasn't new technology like the Heil AMT or the Dahlquist DQ-10. It was a good product at a fair price and produced a strong and steady revenue stream to fund other development.

You could tell Henry was using Advent to fund development, I don't have a problem with it either. Koss used the headphone cash cow to fund the electrostatic Model 1 speakers, and the CM line of speakers.
