I took the Lovely Blanche to see Coraline last night and...WOW! Visually stunning, so much going on that we may need to spend another $15 each to see it again. The 3D stuff really works too...some stuff just leaps right off the screen. Really weird for someone like me who has no depth perception (lazy eye). It's not for little kids; one woman took hers (they were sitting in back of us) and the kid was oooooohing and aaaaahing with the rest of us at the start and whimpering at the end. I won't give away he plot, it's too good...try and see it before they start showing the trailers and give away all the good stuff.
The only thing that bugged me was that one of the speakers in the theater wasn't grounded right and was buzzing through the whole movie.

We took the entire family to see this last weekend and they loved it. Sadly we did not see the 3D version but still found it very entertaining. Pretty good movie.

I took the family to see it yesterday and we had a great time.

We saw the 3D version and thought they did a great job. The story itself was just as good.

Highly recommended.

Try finding a theater that's NOT showing it in 3D then, It'll look weird otherwise.

I don't know, maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed yesterday, but I took my daughter to see it last night and we both want those 2 hours of our lives back. I thought it was somebody's attempt at a modern Alice in Wonderland, but came up short. Visually, quite good, but overall I didn't like it.

I've got a slightly morbid 8 year old niece- pretty clever kid, gets bigger concepts.

Worth bringing her?

read the book, only 160 pages, and watched it twice. I would hope given your description she might really like it.
