RCA Manufacturing Plants
 

There is a current Ebay auction for an RCA 9-T-246 that shows a serial number tag where the serial number begins with "A". I have always believed that the letter designated the plant where the set was made. I have only seen "C" (Camden) or "B" (Bloomington). Anybody know what the "A" stands for? It may be even "A1" as the font for the 1 is different than the rest of the numbers.

I've asked this question before and got no answer, I'd like to know too!


BTW, wasn't RCA using the "Million Proof" ad's around this time to promote their 1,000,000th TV sold, this serial number with the "1" added on would make sense in that context

I wonder if maybe this was a designation that this KCS38 chassis was originally assigned and serialized for another model such as a T-100 and then re-serialized as a 9-T-246?

Interesting thought about the million.
