Q. About DTV & LP Translators

I know years ago there were low-power translators carrying our local CBS affiliate to the gulf coast of Mississippi because they could not pick up CBS out of N.O. or Mobile. I'd imagine there are rural areas that are still served this way. If so, would the stations have a feasable way to send signals to the LP UHF translators once they cease analog transmissions?

Depending on FCC rules for translators after Feb 17th. they could just use a converter box to receive the main station's DTV signal and convert it to NTSC and drive the analog translator transmitter with that.

Or build a box that demodulates the 1's and 0's, do any error correction, and pipe that into a modem remodulator back to ATSC DTV signal, and amplify that to retransmit that.
