Holy Crap...I don't have cable but if I did, I would be pissed!

just another reason to avoid any cable company.

SuddenLink went another direction - a 5% price increase but we get to keep all those channels you listed. In 2008 they cut G-4 instead of a having rate increase. The price still went up as they added local tax fees on the bill instead of one price covers all.

I won't miss any of the channels you list.

As long as Discovery/History & Military channel stay I'll be happy.

I could not care less, except for the loss of the Comedy Channel (I like the Daily Show). Time-Warner should stick to their guns...Viacom can't weather the loss of their ad revenues from being dropped by TW.

Our local cable company just added all of the Encore movie channels for no additional cost. And nothing to the best of my knowledge is being lost..

WAVE Cable and Broadband. I think they are a small company their call center is the office in the next town.

I'd miss some of the shows on CC, but that's about it.

sigloxx 12-31-2008 04:35 PM

No great loss to me personally. MTV should be renamed 'RTV' for 'Reality Television'. Is there any music left on that channel? :D

What!??!

How could they do that?

I don't watch TV much, but those are MAJOR channels!

Geez, a cable company crying because a vendor raised THEIR rates; how outrageous...

Seems what's good for the goose isn't what's good for the gander....

"Time Warner Chief Executive Glenn Britt on Wednesday called Viacom's demand for a 12 percent increase in fees — an extra $39 million on top of the estimated $300 million it pays Viacom annually — extortion and outrageous given the recession. Viacom countered that the requested increase amounted to an extra $2.76 annually per subscriber.

"We sympathize with the fact that Viacom's advertising business is suffering and that their networks' ratings have largely been declining," Britt said in a statement. "However, we can't abide their attempt to make up their lost revenue on the backs of Time Warner Cable customers."

Every Time Warner customer needs to slap that italicized quote back at this silly douchebag when he eventually raises TW rates, for the very same reasons.

Jackass....

Cable companies are notorious for ***** on customers. The thing is, customers keep paying the monthly bill, no matter what they do, so there is no incentive for the cable companies to care what their customers think.

I enjoy watching HDTV for free with my antenna. Depending on where exactly you live, you could probably do that, too. But most of you will pay the cable companies no matter what they do. That is why they can ***** on you; you pay them anyway.

Watch almost all of the cable outfits to either drop, change or raise rates. In places like mine the cable folks were locked in as to price so they started cutting. After the lock was over they made the adjustment in rate charges. Unless you have several good choices as to who supplies your programming, there really isn't much competition. We are waiting for AT&T to give our cable suppliers a run for their money!!

TOO LOUD??? 12-31-2008 05:11 PM

All the assorted MTV's suck anyway so does SpikeTV. I can get UVerse from AT&T but they're still having problems in my area I'm waiting til they get all the bugs out, and will let me do my own cabling.

The basic cable rate here is over $50 a month. Don't have it, don't miss it. Long live the internet
