Howard Stern to re-make "Rock 'n Roll High School" and "Porky's"

Not a big Stern fan to start with, but I think that R&R High school should remain untouched.:nono: There already was a re-make done, 1991's "Rock 'N Roll High School Forever starring Corey Feldman,:thumbsdn: that was nauseating:puke: and traumatic :yuck: to watch, and having Stern behind the wheel can only lead to a similar, if not even more revolting result. The movie is a cult classic, let it be! :yes:

To make things worse, stern also procured the rights to "Porky's", and that project has apparently gotten the green light as well. For my feelings on this, see above... :puke2:

Howard, please, reconsider!:scratch2: This can only lead to the further downward slide of the publics opinion of you! I would say it would also lead to a loss of respect, but I doubt you have much if any left to lose. :finger:

i think its more of "your" opinion of him. you do not get extremely wealthy by a "downward slide of public opinion". There are many "teenie bopper comedy`s" that you can barf at, Howard`s keen business sence dictates that he might as well get a piece of the action too.

I find him neither funny, or entertaining. Howard was once on top, and those days are over, even if he is wealthy from his past exploits. And even if Martin Scorsese or Francis Ford Copola were in line to remake either of those films, I still would think that they would be better off left alone.

Howard is old, and he is a one trick pony, and how long do you think he will be around? He was a fad, albeit a huge fad, and will slowly sink off the bottom of the page.... No one wants to see someone old enough to be their granddad degrading women and others on the airwaves. Might have been cool 15 years ago, but now it's just embarrassing.

You used to see him all over the TV, news, and radio, someone was always talking about him, but no longer. I would call that a "Downward slide"... :yes:

I find the guy funny and was a constant listener - He was on for close to 20 years with an ever increasing audience which, in my mind does not constitute a fad - the reason for his lack of current publicity is his switch to satellite radio - it just depends if satellite radio is the format of the future if he truly becomes viable as he used to be - as far as Porkys goes I wouldnt touch it - its a classic (my son & friends watched it the other night and loved it - the Tallywacker scene could not be replicated) - Rock and Roll high school I wouldnt mind seeing an updated version of...

Folks lucky enough to have been around Boston area from the mid 70's through the early 90's will surely remember Charles Laquidara from WBCN, his morning show and his alter-ego "Duane Glasscock".

Charles Laquidara was everything Stern isn't, and in my opinion far funnier and creative. To paraphrase birddog, to me Stern is a "one trick pony" as well.

I would have to say that Porky's should be left as is, and I have never seen Rock and Roll High School, so I cannot comment, but if this is anything like what The Thomas Crown Affair turned out to be, IMHO that would be a disgrace....

What is Stern trying to prove?? Neither of the films in question were hardly any good to begin with; certainly not worthy of a remake and with Howard Stern's extensive experience in directing and/or producing (NOT!!), they can't be expected to be any "better" than the originals

Neither one of these movies were classics. "Private Parts" was better than either one of them, so I can imagine him doing a good job on the remakes. He is very picky about the scripts he recieves, so to commit to these movies means he liked the scripts.
His track record is pretty strong. I wouldn't bet against him.

I remember "Chuckkkkkk" quite well! Duane Ingalls Glasscock was the sh*t back then...

"Porkys" & "R & R HS" were stupid movies back in the day. I hated them both myself. Who knows though what Sterns production company will do with them. I have doubts though because I absolutely hated the old TV show Howard produced called "Son Of The Beach".

Having said all that...I will admit that I listen occasionally to Sterns show on Sirius. While I don't care much for some of stupid stuff he has on his show like strippers with the biggest boobs and farting contest.....the show is quite entertaining sometimes when he interviews guest such as politicians and actors & comedians. His interview a couple of years ago with astronaut "Buzz" Aldrin was very funny and entertaining.

The part of the Stern show I like best is the last hour when Robin Quivers does the news and Howard comments....with both seriousness & humor....on current events in the world. Howard Stern has the weird and unique ability to constantly switch from stupid "low-brow" humor to serious conversation that a lot of folks are not aware of.

Sterns had the projects in the works for years now. He was talking about them well before he went to satellite as I have not heard one of his shows since the move.
