I'd think the CTC38 was made between '68 and '70.
|
It must be a '68-69 as its not listed in my '67 or '70 brochures. Being a "700" series, thats a much higher end cabinet, most likely danish modern as its a W (walnut finish) type cabinet. Also with the K suffix, which I believe means custom or limited production, so it sounds like a nice set. Most likely a dual speaker console.

I think "Custom Collection"
is a line sold through higher level retailers like Maas Brothers, etc. I think that series was not available through typical RCA service/sales shops. Too bad it's not remote control.

I'm glad you were able to save that set! The flyback that you need is an RCA P/N 119834 or a Thordarson P/N FLY312. Maybe you'll get lucky and the silicon patch job will hold up. I've got a table model CTC38 in need of a flyback and I may try removing the old insulation and patching it with silicon like you did on yours. Those CTC38 flybacks seem to be hard to find these days. I guess so many of them failed back in the day that there is little stock left.

Very ingenious repair! I may have to try that on some bad flybacks I have too.
How did you cut through the old insulation so carefully without hitting the windings? |
