Sometimes, you DO find a nice old tv in the rain....

On my way home from my antique radio club tonight, I ALMOST decided not to do myTuesday night route, looking for tv's, stereos, etc. After all, it was raining, and "everybody knows nobody tossess anything good out in the rain". But, I had second thoughts, and decided to do it anyway. I'm GLAD I did!!

I found a 25 ", 1968 zenith 20y1c50 color console, in GREAT shape. The cabinet is the dual-speaker type, dark wood, with short legs. The crt does NOT appear to have cataracts. This set has power tuning, also(but no space command).I dried off all of the water , as soon as I had secured my new treasure in my old van, and now, it's future is assured.(instead of a few hours from a crushing burial).I may even be willing to sell or trade the set, in the future, as soon as I check it out, and see how it runs, (or not).

I wonder how many of us here like to take the long way home on trash night?

Good find Jack!
Actually, At least around here I have found some of the nicest tv and stereo finds on the crappiest rainy days!
There are a lot of pickers out here and I notice that not as many of them are out "hunting" on lousy days.
Anyway, You really need to post some pictures of your finds as everyone here is curious!

I wish that you guys were near central Texas. I have a garage full of old TVs from a TV shop that I cleaned out. I would gladly give you some of them. I also like to restore them, but one person can only do so much.

Here's a morbid thought, scan the newspapers obituary section and note any recent passings of people in relatively well to do areas and keep an eye out on their sidewalk for goodies.

In NYC people do this sort of thing to locate an apartment!

Come the annual big trash day I find the more interesting stuff in the upper middle class neighborhoods than either other end of the spectrum. Not quite sure why, but that's been the norm, for me anyway.
