Another "what that movie thread."
 

I caught about 20 minutes of this movie a while back on the Fox movie channel. So 1st clue is that it was released by Fox. Judging from the setting the film was made in the mid 1960's.

All I really remember was that an American male was in Europe. He was trying to make a phone call but was constantly being watched by all sorts of goons who followed him all throughout the city. He seems to give up on placing the call so he goes back to his hotel room, only to escape and fool the goons by making them believe he was killed in an automobile that was rigged with explosives.

Any ideas guys? I didnt recognize any of the actors.

Sounds very much like The Quiller Memorandum.
