The Orphanage
This was an excellent and spooky ghost story.
It was directed by Juan Antonio Bayona but was produced by Guillermo del Toro who directed and wrote Pan's Labyrinth and you can tell is has a similar feel but without the fantasy elements. |
I saw this a couple nights ago with my wife and we both liked it alot. Really sad at the end when the mother figures it out. Not to reveal any spoilers.

The girlfriend and I just watched this last night. I thought it was ok, but it seemed to be heading in a far creepier direction than it ultimately ended up going in, and I was a little disappointed with that.

Glad to hear it's out. It's on my "got to rent now" list. Yahoo users gave it a "B"

Saw it in the movie theater, was the first time I had ever heard anyone ever scream. My friend who watches Japanese horror films, not the ones they remake but the originals, jumped out of his seat. When that woman does what she does, the whole audience was like "no, don't do that, that really can't be a good idea".
Best classic horror film I had seen in a long while. I jumped just because of a door slamming. Saw it 5 times.:thmbsp: |
Just finished watching it. I was disappointed at first that it was in Spanish. The video rental place should REALLY make this clear. Had a French soundtrack which I understood most of. And yes, subtitles - distracting.
But a VERY good movie! Almost got a little choked up as the pieces fell together in the end. |
