Here's some shots of the DVD that came out this week and I received today; it looks very good and the director, J. Lee Thompson sure knew how to work the Panavision screen. Big epic.

I don't use a tripod so most any blur is because the camera is handheld.

Movies like that, w/all those extras, would cost a fortune to make nowadays..I guess that's why we don't see 'em anymore. Or they could just cheat, & use CGI, I guess...

Nowadays it's the stars and a mess of green screen and CGI.

But you have to admit that some of the CGI really does beat the daylights out of guys in rubber suits stomping on toy trains, or pet shop lizards with glued on fins :lmao:

Thompson directed "The Guns of Navarone" also...he knew how to film in wide screen.

Give me a fine matte shot anyday over the computer.....

It would cost $200 million to film "Taras" today.....

We must always remember to factor in inflation for the cost of films AND the box office receipts!

Always liked the movie,,great scenery and also loosely based on factual events
