3 Yul Brynner Epics released
Taras Bulba, Solomon and Sheba and the strange and little seen Kings of the Sun were released today, I'm waiting for my order to show.
Very interesting pictures despite the lack of bombastic surround sound, CGI effects and heroes outrunning explosions. Thought there might be a couple of people interested though. King Vidor directed Solomon and Sheba, it may have been his last picture. |
sounds like a winner .. i just watches the king and i again and amazes how good he is

I dig Yul. His homage to himself in "West World" is so good.

"The city he builds shall bear my name, the woman he loves shall bear my child."
Kings of the Sun is really odd, it's about civilized Mayan Indians who are driven from their home in Mexico and take to boats and settle among "wild" Indians along the Gulf coast; Mississippi, Alabama or Florida I assume. The Mayan's attempts to found a city bring them in conflict with the local Indians who are led by Yul Brynner doing his leopard walk thing. I haven't seen the picture in years and am looking forward to it. |
I like all three of the these films...Yul was great!
"Bulba" is my favorite of the three.....great score by Franz Waxman |
C'mon - his role singing to Roman Polanski in "The Magic Christian" (with Peter Sellers & Ringo) was a Classic!
