Trash day !!
Found these two beasts in the trash today, both look like they were sittig in water for a few years. The ge on the left actually produced a watchable picture, the big rca produces sound on am,fm and tv,the tv has an off frequency
horizontal squeal...,and yes I plugged them in just as found ! :nono: Both are good only for parts.:no:Sofar I have found 3 tube tvs in the trash this year,so they are still out there! And now my failing digital camera only takes pix in black and white...when it feels like working http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/f...6/trashtvs.jpg |

Funny your camera should go black& white on ya, but mebbe it's from taking pics of all this retro stuff that does it. The wagon to the left of those sets looks like a late '50s Caddy or something... :scratch2:

Is this a Time Travel thing? Looks like something from Leave it to Beaver.

You are so right! |
I found an RCA like that, I think it's a 730? Mine was the same story, it had seen a flood long ago, and the radio was missing. The crt was good and the chassis, which had stayed high and dry, found a good home.

The RCA is a 9TW333... I have one. It's one of the early ones which has a 78 RPM turntable below, and a 45 under the lid. That's a very nice set, so it's worth restoring the cabinet if the wood structure isn't too far gone.

I find it hard to believe that a Cavalier could fit a dogfood can--never mind a console of that magnitude. :ntwrthy: What a packer you are! (ptoo-ptooey) What a packer you are! (Ptooo! Ptoo Ptooooeey!!)
(As if you needed it this is from the old joke about "If you can park that car in that half space I'll..... :D ) I remember having to dismantle and remove two Wurlitzer model 40 tone cabinets (40x36x27 inches housing some nice-looking amp iron on shelves behind two 15"s and two 12"s.) This was at a remote church in a small town with no help. I crammed the contents of these dismatled cabinets--amps and drivers removed, and the cabinets completely dismantled--into the back of an '80 Plymouth Horizon fordor car. I just barely got it all in there--dismantled as it was!!.... :D |
