Not sure if this should go somewhere else.

I try to read all I can here but it's too much for my under-sized brain to read it all to know if this article is already here.
So, this article should have a big impact in south Florida. Just thought others might like to see it. |
These are a little easier to read.

Yeah, I bet this will have a huge impact on mother earth. Its a shame how wasteful we've become. And I doubt most people even know how to recycle their set properly.
As for that photo, I want those sets! (Don't crush em just yet!) I see a Sony from the KV-1212 era, some nice RCAs, eh. |
Fortunately, that's only a collage of old photos. But it gets me thinking....

LOL, thats true.

At least it should bring the price down on many of sets we are interested in.
I bet there are more than a few people with "HD ready" plasmas that will be surprised when their sets stop working. |
If nothing else, in the short term, I suspect we'll see a surge in interesting curbside trash finds for the next couple of years.

It's already started in Los Angeles... I've seen a whole bunch of nice sets at the curb. Today a Sony 36" WEGA, yesterday a Mitsubishi 35" console in an oak cabinet. Fortunately nothing collectible. There's a pile of 90s vintage TVs that showed up suddenly along the railroad tracks on Canoga Ave. in Chatsworth, and TVs lying face down just about everywhere else. But again; nothing older than the 90s. But I DO notice that they're all staying there. Most have the back smashed off and yoke gone within a day or 2, however. Charles |

It's the copper

I've been seeing a lot of t.v.s on the curb here as well, but nothing interesting yet, just BPC and mid-80s consoles.

Yes...In fact, it's now common to see whole blocks of street lights dead because the underground wiring has been stolen. The Los Angeles DWP said that they had to pay $10,000,000 last year to replace stolen wire. And also copper plumbing. A lot of people have gotten up in the morning to find their water shut off, and outdoor pipes cut and gone. I went to the junk yard on Wednesday, and saw that a lot of cars were missing the whole wiring loom :thumbsdn: Charles |

My WEGA was junk. Shorted guns at 3 years old. And, going into IK shutdown at age 2.
