ID 3 abandoned TVs?..
Ok, I like to look at pictures of old TVs + the insides of abandoned buildings.
I am also a member at http://www.uer.ca/ a large group of "Urban Explorers" Our motto is: "Take only pictures, leave only footprints" we're not vandals, taggers or scrappers. So anyway, I see this image there and comment that the one one the left is an RCA New Vista from 1968. The photographer asks what years are the other two. I guessed that the top right is from 1972 and the bottom one is from the early '60s. Was I close? Isn't the bottom one a Motorola or Zenith?.. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...054/251466.jpg |
The set on the top right looks like generic Japanese from the early 70s. The one below looks like a mid-60s B&W Maganvox, but those are both guesses.
I love UE too. Never spot any TVs. I notice that the photo is stamped CamaroChic 07. Hasn't she posted here before? |

Most "Urban Explorers" DON'T seem to share yr sentiments...Most places I've explored down here have been thoroughly trashed...Those TVs would have been in pieces...

The set on the bottom left looks like one of RCA's first rectangular color sets.

I can confirm that the lower right one is a Magnavox B&W 19" from the early-mod 60s, and I think the upper one is also a Magnavox B&W (not sure on that one; I might also agree with Carmine that it's Japanese.) The RCA is a fairly RARE one! It's a 19" consolette, CTC-19. You don't run into those often, and I think there was a thread about 1.5 years ago about them. I have one, and I think Bgadow does (or did).
The property owner should be hunted down and someone should try to save those sets before somebody else does something to them. Charles |
I sold the -19 I had to another member (radiophile?) and I do think they are a neat set. Would be nice to see it saved. Not long ago I was browsing the county historical society museum and noticed photographs of a house they were planning on restoring. One room was crowded with old furniture and in the middle of the pile was a 23v color console. I have a feeling it is now long gone but maybe I should ask around.

Turns out that the house that has the 3 TVs is not abandoned but just closed. The owner lives nearby and keeps an eye on it. I would guess that the owner is not going to toss the TVs anytime soon...
