RCA 2000 on Craig's list
Hello, I found one on Nashville CL, owner says it has sound, no picture. has service manual and remote. If i had room for it, i would own it.

could be the real thing for someone.
looks to be in decent cosmetic condition http://nashville.craigslist.org/ele/381622565.html |
I hadn't thought about it much, but I guess Nashville should be a great place to find higher-end sets like this. Should rank right up with LA/NYC, maybe Chicago?

well not all of Nashville, it's in Greenhills. The people who worked on Music Row, usually lived in Greenhills. still a big buck area of town. 1 level below Belle Meade.

The cabinet on this one looks to be in incredible condition. That's kinda rare for these sets, as the white veneer tends to chip off on the corners. Does anyone know how much $$ they want for it?

I emailed him to get some more info, and he said "make me a offer" As i don't have room for it, i just reported what i knew to the forum. I offered to take it away for free, if he gets no interest or offers, to prevent it from going to the dump, but i don't think that is likely. While Googling RCA g-2000 i found a reference to Elvis owning one of these and shooting it with a pistol. Is this the same model? I plan on selling a large console radio later this year, then i might have room for it, but not now. Logan

I tried to email and it wouldn't work. Email was undeliverable for some reason. I would drive up from Jackson to get it if the price was right.

It's shocking how many G-2000s still keep showing up! They only made 2000 of them, as compared to other late 60s sets that were produced in the 100,000s that you DONT see... Same as CT-100s. Just when you think you'll never see another one, 2 or 3 show up on eBay at the same time, and someone on the AK board reports buying one from a non-collector private party. I've personally had 3 G-2000s, repaired one additional set, and we keep seeing them pop up!

I guess if you'd paid $2000 in 1969 for something ,you'd keep it dead or alive a lot longer than something disposable, like the guy in Nashville has had this set in storage 10 years.
