The Night of the Comet

Anybody know where I can get a PAL video or DVD of "The Night of the Comet" - saw the film ages ago and liked it. I've had a trawl around and it seems its "out of print" - it seems to be possible to get a copy via the Internet (varoius sources) but I want to be sure of getting a good copy or an original.

Any ideas?

TIA for any help :thmbsp:

From what I understand the film has been lost, as in, not taken care of. A SciFi tragedy.

.........Daddy would have got us Uzi's.

Netflix lists it, plus Amazon.com says 53 new or used DVD's

but that probably means they are NTSC..... (are dvd's that specific?)

as opposed to PAL.

Catherine Mary Stewart was hot, and Kelli Maroney wasn't too bad either.....

A valley girl and a cheerleader with machine guns in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.....

That was a wild movie...But yeah, Uzis woulda been better. A buddy of mine has like "Das Ultimate", though...Full-auto MP-5K w/an integral silencer. He was up at the place we'd all congregate to shoot, let me shoot it, & it was kinda like the scene in "Independence Day"- "DAMN ! I have GOT to get me one o' these !!" BTW, anybody think "Catherine Mary Stewart" had her names mixed up ? Shoulda been "Mary Catherine" instead of the other way around...

I've fired a full auto MP-5, (and lots others) and if I had to stake my life on a 9mm machine gun, I would choose the MP-5..... sweeeeet piece...... (and how would someone from Illinois do that? it's a long and expensive story)

Mac10's, the hell!?! Kelli Maroney was great. I'm suprised Sandy didn't mention Mary Woronov who played the good evil scientist hottie.

I remember "daddy would have got us uzi's" - just after (or before?) blasting the hell out of an innocent parked car.

I also remember the bit where one of the girls had taken a bad guy hostage (in the department store) - one of the other bad guys (the leader) shot him dead - to which the girl captor screams "YOUR'E CRAZY" he replies "I'me not crazy I just don't give a f**k" ! ....great moment.

I guess I will investigate Amazon I know DVD's have "regions" but not sure about colour encoding - PAL vs NTSC....

Thanks all,

I still have my 80's VHS copy & we watched it last Halloween.

Definitely on the list of must have zombie films.

The 80's overlay is hysterical too.

Oh, yeah... Mary Woronov...Underappreciated "bad girl/evil scientist" hottie...Had those eyes that looked right thru you, & really chilled yr shit...Kelli Maroney looked like the kind of gal you'd take home for a night of cheap & disgusting wanton Monkey Sex, Catherine Mary was the gal you'd take home for mama to meet...Geoffrey Lewis, the sidekick in Clint Eastwood's Monkey Movies, loved him as the zombie doctor..He always kinda gave me the creeps a little, too..

Holst 07-08-2007 03:11 PM

Sandy's Monkey sex comment got me thinkin', and lookin', and comet lives. I guess I'll have to get the dvd.

That's brilliant Holst - I had given up searching for this - but I knew there is a significant cult following for this film, so I suppose it was just a matter of time before good news like this.....

Thanks,

I think the DVD is region 1 only.

Or, if needed, you can find your player..
