RCA "Mural" TV

My parents bought this set in 1978, it was 4 years old NOS. They paid $300 for it then. This is actually a 1974 "mural" tv with the am fm radio. I believe these were popular motel tvs. This is the TV I grew up with. It has had heavy use over the years. its been in the storage closet downstairs untouched since about 1995. The brightness control shaft broke off with the knob for whatever reason around then, and it always annoyed me to look at the set with a missing knob. Today I found a beat up rca parts tv that had the exact control with the small shaft and the correct knob. I dug it out of the storage room and fixed it up. Finally it gets respect as an old TV in my collection and now is among the rest of the tvs. Its a special set as it was my parents first TV when they got married. Im glad we kept it all these years. In fact, it never needed servicing and the crt is bright as new.

There were some very late model RCA tube type color sets that looked a lot like this, too. I think they were among the last tube color sets made by RCA. I have a solid state set like yours, that belonged to my grandma, unfortunately it has those gosh awful slide controls. These 19" RCA CRT's always seem to hold up a lot better than the 25" ones.
