WOW, 510lbs! The owner really took well care of that TV, he still has the remote control :eek: and that even looks brand new. It must have been very surprising to see those doors open by them self, then to reveal that 30" screen? WOW

I wonder how much it cost back in 1981 :scratch2: …

This is the first time anyone on eBay has actually described one of those accurately.

But as with the other 2 that were on eBay in the past couple years, the original Tamo ash remote handunit and the matching console video cabinet (supplied with the set when new,) are not mentioned. Missing, or just decided to keep them :scratch2: ..

Correct. $10K MSRP. But did any actually sell at that price??? Maybe like the PVM-4300U (43" direct view CRT in 1990,) which had an MSRP of $39,995.00. None whatsoever sold, and 2 of the display models showed up at Gary Inkman's (eBay name VCRgary) mobile home in Garden Grove, CA. I had tried to negotiate with him to get one of those, but he passed away and I lost contact with his nephew.

I paid $3900 for the KV-3000 that I had long ago at Adrays in 1986 after it had sat there in the store for 5 years unsold, then crapped out on them. I should have waited and gotten a working one on eBay or craigslist lately for under $300 :thumbsdn:

I was reading some of the other things, I didn't know RCA made a 38" HDTV, I thought 34" was the biggest size.

What's the history repair rating on the Sony KV-3000R itself? Was it reliable, average, or not so reliable?

Bulletproof! That set has the same chassis as the CVM-3000 montors. I've worked on many of those, and 2 or 3 KV-3000s. Always an easy fix, and never one that I can recall that had more than 1 failure over the life of the set. However, the typical 80s Trinitron CRT weakening is a problem on these.

If it's bulletproof, how come the one you bought in 1986 only lasted five years trouble-free. That's what scared me a little. I have seen 20 year RCA TVs still trouble-free still.

Crazy, the owner must be proud to get a new 58" plasma TV at no cost.
