Yep..sure do it came out in the late 70s.
One scene I remember is where the car goes completely
through a persons house.

It was a HEAVILY customised '71 Lincoln Mark 3. Usually movie cars are NOT that well disguised-there is always something that gives 'em away. Not so w/this flick-If I were guessing, I'd said it was a early-mid '70s GM mid-size-Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Cutlass, Regal. For Barris to fool a full-blown car nut like me, that was doing pretty good.

Nothing can stop "The Car"

Just out of curiosity, wasn't "The Car" on MST3K at one point?

Negative, or at least I don't see it in this list:

Oh, I never thought I hear myself say this, but....

I liked "Killdozer" better.

"Duel" had 'em all whupped. The characters in "The Car" were so wooden, I was kinda lookin' forward to see which one would Get It next. Mr. Bubbe Strident played his role w/all the enthusiasm of a 2X4. The best thing in "The Car" was The Car itself- I also liked the closing credits music, which showed skylines of cities reflected in The Car's hubcap.

i`m afraid i`m forced to agree. the duel was a great flick, Dennis Weaver spewed with emotion on this one:thmbsp:

the closing credits had led me to believe that perhaps maybe someday there would be a sequel? still waiting:tears:

Actually there was sort of. They used a bunch of scenes from the movie on the TV show "The Hulk" with Lou Ferigno.

No, this is a complete miss.

I'd love to see that.

It seems like a complete rip on Christine, complete with cheezy acting.

<loves cheezy acting>

Got it last year on VHS. Had not seen it since the 80's on HBO. When I was in Junior High this movie was all the rage. I never saw it then so I had no idea what everyone was talking about.
One of the first 'possessed' car movies I ever heard about.

Anyone seen the 'Redemption' from the movie Nightmares? Priest is chased by a black pickup truck. Cool scene is it coming up from underground and jumping up before hitting the ground running!

Have not seen 'Duel' yet but working on it.

There is also another cheezy on 'Terror on Wheels' but actually has a deranged driver in an old Charger.

Also 'Maximum Overdrive' and 'Trucks' but not near as much fun as 'The Car'.

Anyone here actually have a DVD of 'the Car' movie they want to sell me?
