I bought a YPC
 

You've probably heard the term BPC around here in reference to modern junk electronics, i.e. BPC=Black Plastic Crap.

Well I just bought some YPC, i.e.Yellow Plastic Crap :D

For $4 I just had to pick this cute little set up, it has "tv not OK" written on it but actually it's just got a bad filter cap with the picture pulled in and some hum.

I really can't wait to see what the chassis looks like on this thing, the whole set weighs less than the stand from one of the RCA 8" portables.

I put a DVD next to it for a size reference.

And here's the chassis, a real tv with individual components, a CRT and a flyback, note the side order of transistor radio. :yes:

Oh yeah, the build date is July 1998

Heh. There for awhile, if it was "portable", it was yellow and had "Sports" written on it. Saw Walkmans, police scanners, etc. like it.

I put a calculator that pissed me off in the MW at work once, destroyed both Calculator and the MW!

Anyhoo, I jumped the most obvious cap with no improvment, might have been a bit of overkill using a 100@450 in place of a 40@25 but it was all I could find.

Yeah, I remember that too, seems a lot of them were "Waterproof" also.

This set does have a battery compartment and a switch labeled "Power" and "Charge" so presumably you could put rechargable batteries in it?

It also has a Video input but none for Audio, for silent movies I guess...

Heh, video input without the audio. Sounds like a good application for a 24-hour monitor :scratch2: . About the charge switch, it can charge, just don't forget that it's just a switch. I had a friend unfortunately overcharged his batteries, was quite messy.

I had a microwave from work that some of the building's bad wiring killed (and won't resurrect); got a good upper-body workout on it :D. The interesting thing about using a microwave for other than cooking is to nuke discs no one would use for coasters.

i got one of those TVs. but its a grey plastic crap, but hey, its color. ;)
