It's a magnavox. Year? Color set? All tube including radio?

Probably a 1964 or 1965. The face mask is a sign of the first rectangular tube and is color. The owner may be able to check the back and find the tear and model.

Magnavox used that same mask for at least 15+ years; but, I think that one is from the late '60's. The stereo will be solid state and the TV will be tube. The chassis is probably similar to that junker you just bought. I also have an idea that the CRT has been replaced in this set. If you can get a picture of the turntable and control panel, I can narrow down a year.

You keep posting a lot of these TVs for sale and asking for identification. Why aren't you just emailing the seller and asking directly? That would save us all a lot of time.

If the people selling these sets are like most people that do, they have absolutely no idea. They could think it's from the 40s, or be one of the first color TVs available, because that's what their parents told them.

It's obvious, that it was well cared for!

:D Aw , don't go throwing a damper on the 'Mad collecting bug" our new friend has come down with . In time , when he can no longer fit his car in the garage or can't open certain doors in his house all the way , He'll realize , , Ya can't save em all .....

I like seeing what he is finding. I wish we could save all of these big systems. In their day, they were hot stuff!

Over the years, I've learned that asking the owner for details is often a waste of time. They are either clueless or they provide false information. Several years ago, I placed a "wanted" ad in the paper for old TV's and I was very specific in the fact that I wanted old TV's with knobs. For the exception of one caller, people were trying to sell me their modern day crap (despite what was clearly written in my ad). The one valid caller had a beat up late '70's Zenit 19" B&W with a weak CRT; so, still nothing exciting.

Another reason I don't like asking a bunch of questions is because the owner is likely to get the idea that whatever it is that they are trying to get rid of is valuable and the price will suddenly skyrocket. Sometimes, It's best not to show your emotions. Just get the thing and get out of there with it before it has a chance to become valuable.

I was given a little Zenith TV once, that I later found out was their very first solid state set. It had a worn out CRT, and (don't hurt me) I JUNKED it out.

We've all done that before. I've junked a lot of stuff in the past that I wish I still had.

I'de check it myself, but i'm lazy. lol

Seriously, as others have just pointed out, people have no clue what they are selling, the seller of this item responded via email just now, and does not know if it's color.

And finally, thanks to the experts here, i get far more correct info on the sets here, than a seller who lists a "record player console"

That's what 3000 sq foot finished basements are for. I have enough room to have maybe 10 sets plugged in and hooked to satellite.

to each his own, but to me just buying them and putting them off to the side to collect dust makes no sense.

don't listen to 'em..... if ya run outa room inside, dig a hole and bury it outside near a tree or rock so you don't forget where ya put it..... Then dig it up a year or so from now when the pickins ain't so good.......

I already bought it, shes musuem quality and based upon two minutes spent with it, it works. Leaving boston at 5pm on rt 90, she was still worth it.

I'm INSANELY jealous...NEVER see anything REMOTELY that nice 'round here.

The tvs are nice, but I really dig the 3,000 sf finished basement. I would love to fill that up. :)

If you fill it up with tvs and such you may never see the rugs or walls. I wouldn't. Think of the work you could save by not vacuuming or painting. Why bother if you cant see it. :)
