Ok... Last saturday I went to Germany for buy something at Ham-Radio Friedrichshafen fair :)

For start I buyed two radio (Saba Wildbad 11 and Grundig 196W) and a 1928 Loewe loudspeaker.
With my surprise, I see an old Sachsenwerk Rembrandt FE852E with roundie CRT! It's my first roundie TV :banana:

It uses 23 tubes, many of these are DDR variant of common USA tubes like 6V6 or 5Z4. The seller also gave me a spare CRT, because the original was gassy. I've already mounted on the set and soon I will start to restore it :)

Unfortunately I have not managed to find the schematic, I am not a RadioMuseum member and I hope to find it on some website.

Having already replaced the CRT, I can say that it is built like a tank! Very heavy and strong, although it is not very big. I hope to begin soon the restoration. :thmbsp:

The Saba Wildbad 11 is my first Saba, I don't know how they sound (I think good). I have several Grundig (models 196, 4055, 4088 and 5088), two Loewe (Venus Luxus 2791 and Hellas 2841) and a Graetz Sinfonia 522. Graetz rulez. :music:

You'll like the Saba-I have a '53 model-Can't remember the name right now-But after going to see Terry & getting re-capped, it does DANDY. I have a Telefunken & a Grundig as well, & all of 'em are VERY good performers.

Just remembered-Friedburg 3. And scoring a GDR TV- You may be the only one of us here w/a RARE byrd like that...Congrats !! Ya done GREAT !!

Yes, Saba was great. They made everything themselve also the wire isolations and the loudspeakers. There is a very nice Saba commercial on youtube. Unfortunately it is available only in german language. Enjoy:

It s a beauty. I found my very first radio, at a flea market in Northern Italy in perfect shape. Getting it back home on the plane was another trick, but it made it over here intact.

Finally I started the restoration of this set :)
After some hour under variac, I have an image!!! :thmbsp::thmbsp:

After a ion trap trim, I noticed a bad vertical linearity. I started to check caps and I found the electrolytic capacitor connected at the cathode totally exausted... I replaced it but no changes. I have the correct voltage on the screen of 6V6, tomorrow I check some other capacitor...

After some checks I have decided to replace all paper caps... very out of tollerance, for example a 200nF increased to 550nF...
