I see these scattered all over the forum, but would like to see a central spot for them all.

Anyways, lets see all the old TV's running. Black and white, roundies, old square tubes, etc..

I think that is an Emerson bakelite set....

Yep, it an Emerson 648 10" bakelite set with a magnifier. It's has a bakelite cabinet with nifty vent holes on top. Here it is without the magnifier.

Yeah I am jealous more of the TIME some guys have to really do it right like Bob.

He makes me want to pull my Emerson 644 off the shelf and go AWOL for a couple of days. Sure, I'd catch holy hell for it, but I would have ONE interesting BW set going.

...I just wish I had the technical smarts to do what these guys do...I've studied a bit on it, & concluded you'd have an easier time explaining Differential Calculus to a chimpanzee...W/an IQ of 57, there's just No Way...(grin)

The differential calculus is easy.....wait till you get to integral calculus and tensor calculus.:yuck:

I haven't done anything to the Silvertone except put a tube in (it had none when I got it) and it does have issues, but as you can see it's alive...

...but moreover its schematic is almost identical to Meck and Meck knockoffs from circa 1950 which have a reputation among surviving repairmen as being crap but this set works very well.

The American TV has a bizarre schematic and some some trouble spots that were literally built into it, but when it isn't acting up it has a great picture, these caps don't do it justice. In fact when behaving it is a better working set...

than this Zenith which has in particular a much more complicated sync circuit, but is more prone than the American to geometric distortion of the raster with changes in video content. KISS as they say... [cont'd]

For good engineering and performance you can't do much better...

"Best" is a highly subjective thing, but with a razor sharp picture on its (relatively) big 17" tube its hard to beat this Crosley, which gets bonus coolness points for its continuous tuner.

It looks like Hakufu Sonsaku from Ikkitousen.

Had a feller from the local newspaper come & take pics of a bunch of my sets-The 7" Admiral bakelite I have was the 1st TV in town-They used to take it up on this local mtn where they had power & an antenna, & if they were lucky, sometimes WAGA or WSB in Atlanta would fade in & out for a minute. Anyhow, I have that set, & this guy came by & took a pic of it for a historical compendium article he's doing. He also got a shot of my Pilot TV-37 & the Zenith Porthole. People ("Civilians") are simply FASCINATED by these old things. Put a restored Porthole up against the latest Gee-Whiz HDTV Hi-Techmo Chromo Domo Gizmo & see which one gets the most grins & comments....Of course, we know that the HDTV video display device more than likely WON'T be here in 60+ years, like all my ol' Tooob guys still are...And prolly will be then, too.

Just did a Google on this, yep, that was definitely it.

I was up picking some random Anime's on crackle.. Never got into them but decided to try a few after fixing the flyback on the TV (on round 2).

What do you mean by crackle?

On my Roku, there's a free video service called Crackle.. It's like Netflix but the selection is entirely free.. You just have commercials though, which is fine for me.
