46 RCA in Irvine CA
I'd really like to have one of these but don't have enough cash for this one.
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/atq/2808757109.html This one's more my speed. Think I'll go and take a look tomorrow, Is the gasket missing between the CRT and the set?. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/atq/2801336909.html :smoke: |
Find the cash for the 621TS. Turn to a life of crime, hit up the in-laws, cash in the 401k, or I will WU the cash to you and you pick it up for me.

Oh yeah. A Raytheon M-1101. I have one...

The Set is a good performer. I restored it, and it's been playing ever since without complaint.:smoke: |

In the interest of bi-coastal VK fun, I will stand down and save myself $ which will give me some $ to look at a Zenith BW near me. Working they say.
Two 621's here already. I'll get greedy later when an Atlantic coast set jumps up far away from a fault line. |

If the $ are right, go for it. This is one of the most desireable sets of the post-war era and the $ are beyond right. After this set, it is downhill to most post-war sets. Pre-war is another story.
Look for cabinet problems first. Bad refinishing. Missing brass parts. Decals gone. If the finish is smooth and not cracked, this is a bonus. It should be an almost glossy finish. The chassis is the least of the concerns. That is what we restore with lots of help here. Furniture is for another forum. If you have the chance to test the CRT, you will help yourself greatly. |

Good luck on the set. The 621 really is a great looking table top set, and $650 is a good price. I'm in the early stages of restoring mine with a thread going here. Maybe if you get the set you'll be able to learn from a mistake or two of mine.
|
Yes I found the thread. Losts of good close up for me to keep in mind for tomorrow when I go and look at the set.
Thanks |
Better hurry! That's a steal. I'm not going after it, but I know that many who read this thread, probably WILL.

If it were in my neck of the woods I'd pursue it hastily.
|
Worst part about it, I know a person who is near both of those sets, the roundie and the RCA. But I too am about 3,000 miles too far away...

I picked up the set around 4:00 today and I was really surprised at how good it looked. Only very minor cabinet damage. All the lamination is in tact. The finish is aged but overall the cabinet is in good condition. The set has the rear cover. I'm testing the CRT right now and it does show life. Right now it's right on the good bad line on my meter. When I first tested it it showed in the bad range and it has come up quite a bit from there. I'll leave it on the tester over night and see what happens. I also picked up the Raytheon set. All and all a very good day.

Charokeeroad-

$650 with the back . Congrats.

The CRT is coming back to life like Rip Van Winkle. Over the last six hours with the heater on it's now in the low good range.
