Couldn't fool me: in '63 your tie would have been 1" wide!

Sharkskin suit is about right tho. Yep, tie's too wide. And a lot of color photos from "Back Then" seemed to be biased WAY too red.

I just figured your "Dad" had not caught up with the narrow-tie fashion. Very cool, indeed.

Actually, color photos at the time were not so red, but except for Kodachrome slides, many faded badly and became pink over the years. :pity:

Hah thanks guys. I had a lot of fun creating this photo. Actually, the only things in this photo that arent from 1963 or before are my shoes, shirt and me! The tie is actually period. Though narrow ties were the fashion of the time, some people chose to wear standard width ties. The tie in the photo is 2 3/4 with at its widest.

If that was my Dad in the picture, there would be a pack of L&M's! That would be before "the big cancer scare". He quit cold turkey then.

Its not that loop material you're talking about, but it is picky as hell. Something about old fabrics are really nice looking...lots of texture.

Need a porkpie...Either on the head, or atop the TV. (grin)

Looks very authentic. I want to see the version with the drink and the smoke. :smoke::yes:Maybe also one of those sun-shaped clocks on the wall, nearly every living room photo from the early-mid 60s I've ever seen has one of those in the background.

I've often thought it would be cool to do up a room completely like it was from the 50s or 60s, problem is I just have more tvs than anyone ever would have had.

What made me squint and tilt my head at it initially over the authenticity was the floors....They had waxed floors back then -- Polyurethane hadn't been invented yet! I just had my floors in my 1950 house redone so I'm strangely tuned into that. They were waxed up until carpet was installed in the 1960's and kept covered until 2005. Original wax floors have such a different sheen to them, and certainly not a high gloss like in the pictures. You'd forever be buffing the place. But everything else is spot-on. Love that chair.

:D I have my grandfather's old floor standing ash tray. I don't smoke, so it ends up holding TV remotes... :D

As for floors, my mom's house still has paste waxed floors. They require constant care, which we are bad at doing... :D Last Xmas, after the turkey dinner and gift giving, we had nothing else to do, so my brother and I broke out the Regina floor waxer and the paste wax. Happens when you have a very small family, and friends are tied up with their families doing their Xmas thing...

There is a popular TV and stage personnality around here (Michel Barrette) who has
supposedly bought back his grandfather's house and restored every room to
its 1957 state (the year of his birth). Unfortunately he keeps this gem for himself
as far as I know.

Many of us wish we could afford to do that. But, as it is, my grandma's old house is still in service (but owned by a random buyer), raising yet another generation of kids. But we have pictures when grandma was there:

That looks like an Admiral radio that I have in the right picture. I also have the Philco TV in the left picture, but it is not in very good shape.

Just like peverett I have both the TV and the radio. That Admiral is about the most sensitive AA5 there ever was.

I remember that "Itchy, Scratchy" fabric they used to upholster couches & chairs with...Got my Bee-Hind busted forthwith when my parents found out I was pulling-or trying to, anyway-all the little metallic strands out...Great memories ! (grin)
