Wow, that's the most horrid example of a fishtanked TV I've ever seen.

Gaack, at least it was a common Philco.
I thought the artwork was actually pretty good, to gaudy for most people to put in their house but good in a cartoon sort of way.

The cat litter box was the worst , however this isn't too far off .

Why do you suppose it is that we never actually see any of these idiotic projects in their completed stage? The ads should just say:

I actually met a "collector" the other day who wants to do this to his sets. Given that many of them are in the exact same spot they were in 1989, I'm not too worried about seeing it happen.

I have that exact set in blonde, and it its staying that way! It's a '54 and a great performer on original caps. They really effed this set up bad.

This is pretty much one of the reasons why my vintage TVs here in North Bay are "Private Property" and "No Trespassing" to the general public for the most part except to those I can really trust in this city and who I can really trust in general. No offense to any fellow AK'ers here. Just doing my job to make a lot of valued-or should say highly valued members here on Audiokarma who highly prize vintage TV sets and put in a lot of well spent hours working and restoring those vintage TVs and proudly showing them off like a mint condition '57 Chevy Bel-Air or a mint condition 1953 Corvette:thmbsp:

That looks pretty much like most of the 'art' I see in this town. I've noticed that in Chicago, "I'm an artist" often means "I want to feel better about working in a coffee shop at age 35". (though we do have a few that are the real deal).

Recently in Adamstown PA I saw a 1950 12 inch bakelite TV converted to a TV Clock. The chassis was completely gone with a 5 inch digital clock stuck in the center of the 12 inch screen. He filled the screen outside the clock with a lighter color plastic. The bakelite cabinet looked brand new and had the original knobs glued on. He wanted $45 for the TV clock.

No kidding. I live right next to Wicker Park - home of the 'starving artist' and 'hipster' community. There's so much 'vintage', 'distressed', 'outsider art' crap around here it makes me sick. The shops charge a fortune for it too!

Gentrification pushed most of them to Logan Square and my neighborhood, Pilsen. But I can't criticize too much, my ex worked at the old Filter coffee shop in Wicker Park and I'm a bit of a hipster myself. Except I work 9-5.

Very true - I generalized a bit. Two of my best friends live in Logan square and it's the source of my two greatest scores. A mint RCA 630TS and a rare Philco 15DX. Lots of very cool buildings around there too.

I really miss Filter - still get mad every time I walk by the BoA that took its place :rant:

I've seen "FILTER" marked on one or two buildings under renovation on Milwaukee Ave. Is that for real ?
