Who's been in a Turkish Prison?
Saw Airplane the movie yesterday, do you guys think it still holds up? I laughed a lot still.
|
I still laugh every time I watch that movie.
I think my favorite quote is: "I've never been... with a man before... And I don't know if we're going to make it out of this alive." Over and over again.:D |
Absolutely!!
But.....they need to do a 21st century version of that movie......
With baggage handlers dressed in gorilla suits........................... Nasty-n'-rude, cell-phone talking desk personnel...................... Drug sniffing, crotch-biting Pit Bulls...................... Dope smoking ATS officers................................... U.S. Senators as Men's Room attendants...................... Arab-speaking pilots................................ Hey....this is Airplane II.....OF COURSE it's supposed to be in BAD TASTE!! Steve :sigh: :D |
Funny as hell. I have a mini Otto (acquired from a DVD promotion) sitting on my CD rack.
Gearhound, there was an Airplane II - it was set on a passenger shuttle running between Earth and the Moon. Bill Shatner was the moonbase commander. Not quite as funny as the first, but still hilarious. |
Joey --- Have you ever seen a grown man naked?
If that were put out today in movies ,Congress and the critics would have a field day. Everyone would be screaming --Coruption of a young minor. If you notice whenever that movie is shown on TV --most of that cockpit scene is edited out. Where has our sense of humor gone? James |
"He's a meance to himself and everything else in the air.... Yes, birds too."
|
"Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue."
je |
"It's a large building- with patients- but thats not important now".....I think thats from the same movie, hehe
|
Airplane is timeless!.. And I've never been in a Turkish prison. I don't think a Turkish prison would be worse than an American one, though. :)

Moved to a more appropriate forum.

Pass these out to the boys in lieu of pay!
Can you imagine the uproar if Blazing Saddles was released as a new movie these days?
Many younger persons that I know have never seen the whole movie with its original dialogue. |
Never was in a Turkish prison but I was almost shot by a Turkish soldier. Does that count?:dunno:

A lesser-known and somewhat uneven but hilarious movie from the Zucker brothers (the guys who brought you Airplane): The Kentucky Fried Movie. It's like a rated-R SNL.

Looks some thing like this......

Sometime back in the 90s I saw Heavy Metal on TBS and almost the entire segment with the two aliens snorting coke and flying was edited out.
About three years ago I found a DVD in a thrift store and watched it. I don't think that one has held up over the years. Perhaps if I went to a Midnight screening of it like I used to in HS I would think differently. By the way what ever happened to Midnight Movies? When I was in HS two or three multiplexes had different movies playing on each screen. It was a blast. Back on topic. I think just about everything in the movie is hilarious. Especially when Wilt Chamberlin breaks character to tell the kid off. And then when he's pulled out of his cockpit seat, he's in a basketball uniform. Chad |

I freakin love that movie
saw it for the 1st time on school camp in grade 5 |
Dark star
A VERY low budget sci-fi comedy movie from the 70's............................
Probably NOT as good as AIRPLANE.....but well within the ballpark. Steve :thmbsp: |
I thought this was gonna be about "The Midnight Express", the true story of William Hayes.
Someone I know has just visited Istanbul - that prison is now a hotel! |

Airplane was great! It seems like in that period in time, there were a lot of great comedies:
Slap Shot with the Hanson Brothers and Paul Newman - 1977 Animal House with the late great John Belushi - 1978 Up In Smoke with Cheech & Chong - 1978 Used Cars with Kurt Russell - 1980 Cheech & Chong Next Movie - 1980 Airplane! with Lloyd Bridges - 1980 Stripes with Bill Murray - 1980 I might be missing some, but these comedies when I was a teen were downright hilarious. |

There's a sale at Penney's!
|
"I need to speak you in the cockpit"
"What is it?" "It's a little room at the front of the plane where the pilot sits, but thats not important right now" |
i think the part when the auto pilot needed "blowing" up was hilarious!!!
