IMO his best role was as Cole Younger in the Walter Hill picture "The Long Riders".

His father John was in many John Ford pictures and was one of the few actors Ford couldn't rattle.

BBC is quoting Thai police as saying that Carradine, 72, was found sitting in a wardrobe with a rope around his body and neck.

I was having a conversation just two days ago with the lady who cuts my hair (who is within one year of me in age) about how all the TV stars who were big when we were kids, are now at the age where they are dying off in rapid succession... now another one is gone. :sigh: Quite a reminder of one's own almost-impending mortality.

R.I.P., Mr. Carradine. Rest well, Cain.

It's kinda of strange, I just purchased his first year series of Kung Fu on DVD, about 3 weeks ago. I think it was about 23 bucks at Best Buy. Anyway, Its just great...watched the set in about 2 days. Its full wide screen, excellent quality, no commercials to interupt. Had a hunch my neighbor might like it, so I borrowed it to him, he asked if there was a 2nd season when he returned it. Such a unique story and series..man, still cool and timeless.

I remember some old timers telling me about how they used to have a friend who worked a local audio salon in the 70's. After hours, they'd get to sit around in the room with the big projection TV, drink beer, smoke down, and watch Kung Fu. Good times, I bet.

Yes, it is such a reminder, most discomforting to be sure.

Let us not forget the immortal "Death Race 2000" at the beginning of his career, the great "Kill Bill" films near the end of it, and the Oscar-winning "Bound For Glory" in the middle. I had thought him an odd choice to play Woody Guthrie but was wrong for he turned in a greatly convincing Oscar-nominated performance. Just based on those four films, his movie career was noteworthy.

The circumstances of his death aside, Mr, Carradine collaborated with Bruce Lee on the movie later to be known as Circle of Iron. I've heard this film described as weird, funny and profound. I go with the latter. I just watched it for the tenth time and it still floors me.

When I read that CNN entry the day he passed away I thought it must be autoerotic asphyxiation. He was great in Kill Bill. Another great actor bites the dust but he'll stay a legend. http://www.bargainscreeners.com/blog/spr.gif
