The Little Rascals Box Set!
 

Great news for Little Rascals fans, they've released a complete collection of all 80 Little Rascals Talkies, restored and uncut.

I got my set a little early and have been enjoying them the last few nights, hard to believe that the oldest episodes are nearly 80 years old!

There are still some 200+ silent episodes as yet unreleased in any decent form.

I love the Rascals! I grew up (well, more or less anyway :rolleyes: ) watching them. I bought a set of VHS tapes from QVC a few years ago but I don't know if it is a "complete" set and I don't know if they are restored versions. Of course I watched the shows on B&W televisions with an over-the-air antenna so the sloppy VHS copies probably look close to the way that I remember watching them way back when. I have watched about half of the tapes so far. Thanks to this thread I will remember to get them out and enjoy them again. I will also check Amazon to compare the two sets. I don't want to risk missing an episode! :D

Well, Robert Blake is still around... and Jackie Cooper.

I have VOL 1 on Laserdisc..Leonard Maltin introduces this version..

Did a little snooping on Wikipedia, and along with Jackie Cooper & Robert Blake (AKA Mickey Gubitosi), there's a half-dozen rascals still with us:
Shirley Jean Rickert (little blond girl)
Dorothy DeBorba (girl with curls & elaborate hair bows)
Dickie Moore
Jerry Tucker (the "rich kid")
Jackie Lynn Taylor
and...
Jean Darling....the last survivor of the Our Gang silents

Did you know that Darla made her film debut in one of my favorite Laurel & Hardy films? "The Bohemian Girl" (probably was a gypsy kid)

Ahhhhh, that brings back memories. Robert Blake played the character Mickey (his given name is Mickey Gubitosi).

My most memorable Rascal's scene was when Stymie was going door-to-door begging for food. He came upon a woman who gave him an artichoke. He sat on the doorsteps and began to peel the layers away. He eventually came upon virtually nothing. He then said, "This may choke Artie, but it ain't goin' choke Stymie". He proceeded to toss the remnants and moved on..............

I bought the complete VHS set for my daughters years ago. Great mileage out of that purchase.

My favorite band of all-time might be "The International Silver-String Submarine Band".

Every time you think of your favorite Rascal's scene, you remember 5 more that are just as good!

Stymie was my favorite....

Loved the golfing episode with the monkey breaking the clubs... Forget the name of it but it was hilarious...

And the one where they built home made fire engines and raced down the hills...

i haven`t seen a rascals episode in decades. they were a staple in all homes of many era`s. i used to laugh my ass off at their hi-jinks, and it was so well written. i don`t believe many from todays generation could appreicate what the rascals were all about. god bless them all!!!!:yes:

I love the Little Rascals!! We have had a box set for around two years now. I watched as a kid religously!! My kids are 10, 14, 15 years old and they cant seem to get enough!! Their favorite episode is "Hook and Ladder".:D

My wife just sent me an e-mail about them a while back. Most of the most memorable ones had a pretty short life.

I don't know how to paste the e-mail with pics to show you.

My fave was Froggy, from right at the last. That REALLY WAS his voice, altho he was "making" it do that...

OOoooooh, I didn't realize when I posted that, that they actually WERE released on LD. Now I have something new to hunt for. Thanks! ...but in the meantime, the DVDs will work for just watching 'em! :D

I don't know if it is just me, or the world today, but I can watch these old shows and think, despite how dated they are in some aspects, "Now, that is well written. It shows real human nature." Then I turn on the TV to a modern-programming channel and find things like "Sex and the City" and a bunch of so-called "reality shows", and I can hardly wait to turn it off, and go online and listen to some old-time radio shows like "Gunsmoke", instead. Guess I don't much like what has happened to human nature these days? :no: : Or is it just the media's take on it? sigh:

Anyway, I'm glad that things like these old Li'l Rascals shows are still made available! :yes: :thmbsp:
