I have heard about this for years but have yet to try it. Just wondering if any AKers have and what the results were.

Great album. Great movie. The sum is less than it's parts.

I bought a DVD copy off eBay back when they were selling them there, the quality of the sound and picture are fabulous!! Yes, the musical coincidence's are amazing. :yes:

I've been talking about this for weeks now- 4 or 5 of 'em, at least.

It's recommended you open your "doors of perception" verrrrrry wide before hand to benefit most from it.

But doors opened or closed, it is at least a lot of fun.

Consensus is it's good for the first spin through the disc, but as the movie goes on and the disc peters out, so does the effect. Though that may alsdo have something to do with the "keys" wearing off.

Anyhow, what do you have to lose besides a few brain cells and a few hours?

Worst case, you just watched an interesting classic of a film, and listened to one hell of a good album.

I remember when the local radio station would simulcast the album when the movie was being aired on the local TV station. Those were the days!

I only started hearing about this a few years ago. Its on my "to do" list.

I want to say DC 101 back in the days when Howard Stern was local and not syndicated but it has been a while and so many stations have come and gone.

Do it. There are instructions on the Internet where to cue up the LP or CD. I think it is when the MGM Lion roars, but don't quote me.

I may do it with my kids soon since they are familiar with both the album and the movie. I doubt that I will be opening up my doors of perception other than with a hearty stout.

Oh, I know what it was Alaric. The stumblebums who used it liked to think it was THC but it was some kind of downer, PCP perhaps but who knows? But you could smoke all the pot in the world and not get as messed up as a tic user.

I used to work as a bouncer for Jam Productions, a rock show promoter in Chicago. One rainy day we were watching the crowd lined up in the alley outside the Aragon Ballroom prior to a Scorpions show. Anyway this one kid was barefooted, barechested and covered in mud and we watched him drain a bottle of bumwine in a couple of swallows. So my buddy approaches him and says "You on drugs?"

The kid pounds his chest and replies "Me no drugs, me tic!".

Yeah , PCP was sold as THC for quite a few years. Real THC vanished many years before crap stopped being marketed as such. When pot became very good , there was no real market for "T" . Waitaminnit-are we discussing this in PUBLIC??? Holy Shit! Prank caller-prank caller-I'm hanging up now!
There is a lot of music I liked from the 70s that , shall we say , lost it's charm whilst sober. The era and the music will never translate well. If you did it first , everything else is a pale copy.

P.S. Did you see the Scorpions first U.S. tour? I saw them open for Uncle Ted at the Miami-Hollywood Sportatorium during the 'Zoo Tour'. Wow. There was a big riot outside , but what a concert.

I don't think that was the Scorpions first American tour, not sure. I saw Foghat their first American tour, they opened for the Kinks at the Aragon and blew the Kinks right out of town. Man, what a show Foghat put on.

I loved Foghat! The best concert I ever saw had a local band open , then Motorhead , Foghat , Blue Oyster Cult , and Heart as the headliner. BOC wouldn't be the same without the independent salesmen wandering around with 'Red Dragon-Orange Sunshine-Blue Dolphin" , but Ann Wilson sounded better live than any Heart album I've ever heard. I think it was 1984. The Miami Baseball Stadium was a terrible venue , but it was a fantastic show. I saw Uncle Ted 10 or 12 years in a row in S. FL , and always enjoyed it. Also saw Floyd , ZZ Topp , Bad Co. , etc. I had tickets to see Led Zep in Miami when it got rained out , and got the replacement tix to see them in Gainesville. Heard John Bohnam died and flushed the tickets. AAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!

Oh, I don't think that <everyone> who spins Pink Floyd while watching The Wizard of Oz is a qualuude or tic user. Though I suspect they have much in common.

As for Pink Floyd's penchant for drug induced noodling, well I was trying to put a good face on it; God forbid such aimless musical blather has another cause.

This disc contains the movie "The Wizard Of Oz" (1939) synced up with audio
from the album "Dark Side Of The Moon" by Pink Floyd (1973).

This is a custom made, high quality production. I did a lot of research and
work to make sure everything syncs up properly throughout the whole movie.

Getting this synced by hand is extremely difficult. Normally the method people
use is to start playing the CD about 3rd lion roar after the start of the movie.
This is difficult to do, and does not help with re-syncing after the first
playing of the album. Some of the best coolest syncs are during 2nd playing
of the album.

You will notice a three second pause in the audio about 32 minutes into the
movie, during the scene change from Munchkin land to the scarecrow. This is
because the Wizard of Oz copies released after 1989 had restored footage, 1
/2 second before the munchkin scene and 3 seconds after, which would
messes up the sync (Dark Side of the Moon was released in 1973, and
thus the 1973 version of the movie would have been what was used if the bad
did this match on purpose. ) I added a break in the album at this point (during
the first playing of the album only) to allow the album to resync to the movie.

While working with the audio streams from the Movie and Pink Floyd CD, the sound
was never compressed. I only worked with the audio data in .wav format, to
preserve the highest sound quality.

This disc includes several audio tracks. The first is just the Pink Floyd album
playing by itself. The second is both the original movie soundtrack and the
Pink Floyd album playing at the same time. The third is the english sound track
by itself. The Fourth audio track is the French dubbed movie soundtrack,
and the Fifth audio track is the Spanish dubbed movie soundtrack.

English, French, and Spanish subtitles are also included.

I hope you have as much fun watching this as I did making it.

This is absolute B.S. I've been hearing people claim this for decades and have even been forced to try and see it myself but it just does not work. I guess if you look for anything hard enough you'll find it.

Even the Floyd has denounced this crap.

Indeed Pink Floyd has denounced it.

And it's very subjective, how much you believe it works. It seems obvious that one needs to really be flexible to get the most out of it, willing to stretch a bit.

The fact it's an old stoner perpetuated propaganda of pot doesn't help legitimize it either.



That all said, it's still a lot of fun to try, and I bet quite enjoyable for some folk, either sober or stoned.

Coincidence? Yeah. But that need not distract from the fun of it.

Any one else notice the "triangle" hanging up on the line as Dorothy reaches the house about 2mins30 into the film.......
