Blade Runner - any fans
 

Released in 1982 and directed by Ridley Scott starring Harrison Ford. I am a huge fan of this movie and received the Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD box set last week for which I have been enjoying immensely. DVD box set includes the Final Cut version (2007), Directors Cut version, the original theatrical versions both domestic and international and the ultra-rare pre-release Workprint. A complete documentary on the making of the movie, extended interviews with Philip K. Dick (author of "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" which was the basis for the movie), the screen tests, all of the deleted scenes and much more. There's 5 DVDs worth of material here. Box set also includes a rare art folio, some toy figurines and a lenticular film clip all housed in a replica Deckard brief case.

Excellent packaging. A true fan's delight.

One of the few DVDs I own. I received the Directors Cut (single DVD) as a gift some years back. It's one of my favorites as well as the story "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep."

Great movie. It seemed so futuristic in 1982... not so much, now. More prophetic.

Sean Young never looked more beautiful.

The original theatrical version has Deckard driving off in the sunset with Rachael in the end. It also included the Deckard overvoices. The Dirctors Cut version omitted the Deckard overvoices and the "happy" ending. This new DVD set includes a bunch of stuff y'all have never seen/heard including overvoices and more alternate endings. It's such a great package.

I have yet to watch the Final Cut version yet. I always loved the original theatrical version personally.

The beautiful auburn haired replicant that HF took off with at the end of the movie. An actress I do not recall seeing in any other role in any other movie.

Ooooooo yea! One of my Top 10 of all time and a sure Desert Island choice.

For Yamaha B-2 --- Sean Young was the replicant, and she's done lots of stuff, and most of it tabloid worthy ....

Oh, HF=Harrison Ford. Now I get it. Yes, as Scorpion mentioned, that was Sean Young playing the very beautiful Rachael. Man, she was a knock-out. There's deleted footage included in the box set with Deckard and her in quite a love making episode.

With my steady diet of 3-4 movies a year, not too surprising that I would miss her work. :D

Well, she was QUITE the dish in that flick, and one I would have drove off with too ..... but she had an actress reputation in reality of being (shall we say) difficult x 10. Still, that in no way detracts from the flick which was superb.

Was Deckard a replicant?

The DVD documentary includes plenty of interviews with Sean Young 25 years in the future. She's not looking bad although showing her age a touch.

Brion James, who played the character Leon Kowalksi died in 1999 of a heart attack at the age of 54. I did not know that. RIP Brion.

My first copy on VHS had the overvoices. And I rather like it that way. So I was disappointed when I got the director's cut DVD and it didn't have them. Not so much about the different ending, though. And Sean Young (Rachael) is in Ace Ventura and Dune, that I know of.

Oh, there's two versions of this box set:

Ultimate (which includes everything I described above)
Complete (4 disc package only. Does not include the the 5th disc rare Workprint and, of course, all of the other packaging goodies mentioned above)

i was never a star wars fan. this is the movie. blade runner is in my top 5 all time films and it still holds up today. watching it in hd on a 126 inch screen was great! almost as good as the first time - vhs on a 25 inch sylvania superset!

Y'all would be surprised at how difficult a movie this was to make and how unhappy everyone was from the producers down to the actors and everybody in between. They were really making something special and didn't realize it then. Enough said from me. If you want more y'all just gonna have to buy it.

Vangelis did a wonderful job. There's a segment about that in the documentary. If I ever see that on vinyl I will surely grab a copy. Thanks!

She was a stunner in Blade Runner, for sure!

If Dekker IS a replicant - how come it's so easy to beat the puke out of him?

Dang good film and extremely influential. Every bit as influential as the matrix or Pulp Fiction. I vote for the film sans narration.

Watched the newest "Directors Cut" last night, loved it but I don't know the film well enough to tell you what's different.

It's set in the early 21st Century so they missed the mark there, we're a long way from flying cars, routine space travel and Replicants. :scratch2:

I have that one in Laserdisc, one of the few that I'll keep (Along with Starwars first 3). The Laserdisc is far superior to any DVD's.

Why do you say that? Do you know what's going on with the latest releases we're discussion here??? I have the Criterion special edition LD version copied and burned to DVD. That version with the extra violence is included in the new DVD releases. The LD version doesn't hold a candle to the same version in HD with the new soundtrack. :no: :no: :no:

It's only my all-time favorite movie. I've seen it dozens of times, owned it on VHS, two versions on Laserdisc, and several versions on DVD. I had heard they Ridley Scott was working on a new DVD set but nothing recently. Imagine my surprise in finding it in our local Fry's just before Christmas. I bought the 4 disc Final Cut version before seeing there was a 5 disc Ultimate Edition, gotta pop for that one.

The wife's and my first date was to see the Director's Cut in an art house theater in San Diego back in 1992.

This will probably be the first movie I watch with the director's commentary.

I never found Sean Young to be interesting, and only fair to look at. This film, or any. But especially this film.

She was a convincing replicant, though.:boring:

Darryl Hannah, on the other hand, freaky in this flick, well, she, I'd gladly let bloody my nose... :drool:
