Ironman
|
Could've had the guy who sings "Iron Man" play the part instead, probably drinks less?
Nah, that'd be a toss up! Looks like it opens the same time AK Fest 2008 does. Retro |
This trailer has actually raised my hopes for the movie. It seems that they may have stuck with the roots of the original Iron Man instead of done excessive fluff as per the standard superhero fare as of late. Considering Tony Stark's history with alcoholism in the comics, Robert Downey Jr. might have a fair bit to bring to the character.
I don't know why Ozzy's song is used, though. That song is about an entirely different 'Iron Man', a villain in fact. - JP |
The trailer is awesome, I like the quick shot of him making a toast. To me that was just enough to get an idea that they are trying to make it close to the character. If all goes well, and they get to make a 2nd movie, I've "heard" on the web, that they might go into his alcoholism.

Iron Man RULES! I'm very much looking forward to this flick.

Looks pretty cool!

Oh man, that looks like a sweet movie!!! First time I've heard about it.
The movie on the first link wouldn't play for me. Here is one right from the official site:http://www.ironmanmovie.com/ |
I just watched "Beowulf" this morning and it has a trailer for "Iron Man" on it.
I'll be going to see it no doubt. Trailer looks great and Downy seems great with just the proper amount of smart ass added. IIRC, Tony Stark was pretty much Mr. Clean like Reed Richards, but downy seems pretty good in the trailer. |
As an Downey fan, I too look forward to this one.
(In the meantime I'll watch "A Scanner Darkly" or "Richard III" again.) |
Well guys Ole Shellhead lands on the bigscreen today (last night for advance ticket holders). I ain't real big on crowds and standin in line so I'll probably wait till Monday and go to a matinee.
|
I remember reading Ironman comics in the 3rd grade. Look forward to watching it.
|
Can't wait to see it this weekend....
|
So far, many great reviews. Most for Downey's acting.
|
Looks pretty good from the trailers. Can't say the same for "Speed Racer"
|
I think it looks great. Can't wait.
|
I saw it Friday night.A really well done comic book flick.I wouldnt put it in the same class as Spiderman II or Batman Begins, but nice character development,an actual story, real actors, and wonderful special effects.A few people complained that there wasnt enough action, but its an origin story,so more time has to be spent setting the stage.
Oh,and be sure to stay until after the credits.A real doozy. Jimmy |
This just out!
Marvel is planning a sequel for Summer 2010 release.

Best comic flick I've seen. Bar none.
|
Saw it last night. Excellent, excellent comic book flick. Downey was great. And I saw the trailers for a number of other movies that look great, including M. Night Shama (can't spell)'s The Happening and the Edward Norton Hulk movie. Plus if the movie is half as funny as the trailer, Mike Myer's Love Guru will be well worth seeing.
|
i just came back from it...I loved it so much, I only criticized one thing on the movie....very very enjoyable!!
|
i used to colect comic books, iron man , spider man , volverine etc...
cant wait to see it!!:thmbsp: |

...and Gwyneth Paltrow was HOT! |
We saw it Tuesday night ...
I grew up reading my cousin's comics back in the late 60s & early 70s - so I wanted to see it on a big screen - we caught the digital theatre version here in Fairfax. I thought it was lotsa fun, the update to the gulf war was nicely done, and Downey was perfect! Even Bridges playing a villain was a hoot. Much better than the mess that was the FF movies (or Ang Lee's Hulk!) ... and the Samuel L. Jackson teaser at the end - MAN! Looking forward to THAT! (I've gotta wash my mind out everytime I remember that David Hasselhoff fury TV-Movie ...ugh!) I did like Jackson in "Unbreakable" (even bought it on DVD!) but have been let down with every Shyamalan movie ever since ... |
We saw it last night and I liked it. I had never heard of Ironman comics so, I did not know what to expect. This movie has received many good reviews.
|
I saw it last night.
Pretty good entertainment, but nothing really knew in there, if you ask me. In fact too much "dejá vu " IMHO, from the story to the production. We´ve gotten used to Hollywood´s amazing special effects on many a production in recent years, so I couldn´t help but feel I was watching a mix of Spiderman ( the flying sequences ) and Transformers ( the robot fight ). I agree Downey´s acting is very good. It´s cool to watch one´s childhood heros so well portrayed. What I really enjoyed was once again watching that most classy of present day Hollywood actresses, Gwineth Paltrow. Not he prettiest, not the sexiest, but IMO definitely the classiest.:thmbsp: Jorge |
My son and I saw it yesterday. I have got to echo all of the previous poistive comments. Good story-Good acting and it did not live on it s CGI/special effects. I have to admit I was extremely sceptical of Downey as the lead but he pulls off very well and created a believable character.
|
We saw it yesterday. Very enjoyable. I've always had a problem suspending my disbelief in these kinds of movies. And the "science" in this was just sooo far out...but I guess I've got to get over that.
I was intrigued that he doesn't keep his identity a secret. The opposite of most all other superheroes. Is this true to the original comic? |
I caught this friday. First movie I've seen at the theater since Walk The Line and I'd have to say it was well worth going.
They are planning another Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and then an Avengers movie with everyone together. |
Really a great movie. Much more depth than the average comic book adaption. This could really go somewhere. Nice to seem some serious actors doing this kind of work too.
However, good as it was, and I did really enjoy it, Speed Racer was mind blowing. Simply unreal! |
Saw it Friday. Used to read the comic books back in the "Golden Age" and I enjoyed the movie.
Marvel super hero flik plots are becoming awfully predictable though: Spidey is challenged by a more powerful evil version of himself (Venom), Iron Man faces a larger, more powerful, evil "Iron Man," and we'll soon see the Hulk face off against a larger, more powerful, evil "Hulk." Isn't it time to pick up the stylus and move over to the next groove? |

I'd say they are more of an 8-track tape, stuck on a continuous loop. Did I see that yet another Dune is being crafted? However, I am going to see Ironman and likely be pleased. Every account I've read says Robert Downey Jr. blows it out. |
Just saw this today. Was definitely worth the 6 bucks.
|
I saw it last night. I loved it. Had a great time.
It's popular to dislike everything now 'days. I gotta say, if you went to "Ironman" looking for an art flick, you migh have walked into the wrong theater in the first place. Super-hero movies are predictible? Duh. Spoiler alert- Ironman wins in the end... |
Haven't seen it yet but already certain I will love it.
I'm not looking for an Academy Award every time I go to a movie. Rick |
I am going to proceed under the assumption that most who are going to see it have seen it so there will be some minor spoilers. Discontinue reading if you have not.
Finally made it to Iron Man last week and I am so glad I got to see it on the big screen. Production values and cinematography were wonderful. Technology depictions were great too and not lingered over. They just were, accept them and move on. This was not a documentary. First, the easy stuff. I have never seen Gwyneth Paltrow look as smoking hot as she did in this film. Just WOW! Next, Jeff Bridges turned in one terrific performance. One of the best portrayals of a corporate bad guy I've seen in a film yet. I wish he had not been taken out as I would like to have seen more of him in the next installment. And as for Robert Downey Jr.? Spectacular! I've always liked his performances but this one had me howling with laughter nearly all the way through. The cynicsm & snarkiness were perfectly delivered and he never looked uncomfortable with the lines. I am likely going to catch this one, one more time. Rare for me to see a film twice but this one was so much fun I think I need to go see it again. All in all, a big thumbs up. |
