You really do not see alot of mini-consoles in that condition. If I were living in sherman oaks it would be roadtrip time. andy 11-21-2006, 11:21 PM --- Bobby Brady 11-22-2006, 07:15 AM from the '65 model year. I think it is a rare one because of that large tuner knob which has the #'s illuminated in the black part of the knob. kx250rider 11-24-2006, 12:23 PM What's up with that UHF (???) dial above the channel knob? Never seen an RCA color set with that; only B&W. It looks like it could be a Bradford to me in one way, but then again, the square bezel with the 4 controls looks pure RCA... Bradford had a near-identical clone of a 16 but no New Vista tuner. Charles Adam 11-24-2006, 05:52 PM The ad (now deleted) did say it was an RCA. I thought ctc-20 because I've only seen that arrangement of the 4 controls in a square under the tuner like that on the ctc-20, and the ctc-19 which is rectangular. All the 16s I've seen have the controls laid out like the one in jpdylon's avatar up above. But then I've only seen a few and I've never seen a set with the tuner controls like that before, so I don't really know. Chad Hauris 11-24-2006, 11:53 PM The CTC-20 I have, has the exact same control layout as the later CTC-16's, a regular sized single tuning knob with UHF tuning on the VHF fine tuning knob and a rotary dial readout in a single small window and the volume, brightness, color and tint controls in the pattern like on the set in question. THe CTC-22 portable did have the slide rule UHF dial but I don't think any RCA console did...this may be a very close copy of a CTC-20. Adam 11-26-2006, 03:41 AM Here's another nice roundie on craigslist, this time in Utah. I think it's a ctc-11? http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/clt/237259518.html polaraman 11-26-2006, 09:41 AM I think that is a remote control set. It has all the same knobs and trim as my CTC 11 remote set. The gold trim below the CRT is the receiver for the remote. Worth getting if it is a remote set. polaraman fujifrontier 11-27-2006, 07:11 PM i want one that proudly proclaims "COLOR" Bobby Brady 12-08-2006, 01:50 PM i want one that proudly proclaims "COLOR" That is if you know the way to San Fransisco. fujifrontier 12-08-2006, 06:21 PM That is if you know the way to San Fransisco. be nice ;) Bobby Brady 12-08-2006, 06:44 PM I know the way to San Fransisco and I would love to have that very rare RCA. I'm just not completely sure of the way to San Jose. Bobby Brady 12-08-2006, 06:51 PM a rare style tuner knob that has a large black area with the numbers in it instead of what you usually see where the numbers appear in the window above the knob. I heard that style was not sold by dealers but rather through discount stores or department stores like Burdines. I guess the big black knob style was not seen as fancy as the one with the channel window and so the actual RCA dealers got the "better" sets to sell. |
