A few weeks ago I bought a bunch of TV service manuals from a guy at a flea market who had a big box of them, almost all Zenith service manuals.

I was looking through a 1961 manual, and in the list of models, it lists one, the model F4000W as having a Space Command 1000. I had never heard of this before, and was wondering if it was a more advanced version of the 600? I assume it would have been ultrasonic back in 1961. It is only listed for one model, which has chassis 16F24Q/7F32/9F27.

Does anybody have or has seen a SC 1000 set (Doug?)

I am looking at a Zenith parts list for the "S-50364 "1000" Series Stratosphere Transmitter Assembly".
Along with it are parts lists for the 300 and 400 series transmitters.
Only the "1000" references "Stratosphere". Also most of it's parts have numbers newer than the 300 and 400. This is from Zenith Service Manual SP-8 (1961)

The manual lists the 1000 set as a combo, so it must have been the best you could buy at the time.
The manual has schematics of the SC receivers, including S-50384, listed for the 1000 remote, it even has volume motor relays, while the rest of the chassis shown have step relays for the volume, I though all SC sets at the time used stepped volume.

The Space Command 1000 was the first electronic handunit from Zenith; I think 1975. It had a single row if buttons, with Zoom. Used a 9-volt battery.

Definitely no any earlier than 1975, and I thought the SC100 was also early 70s. That's the single button clicker tone bar remote. Came with the 16" color portables, and various 19" B&W sets.
