I am restoring a Hallicrafters 505 and I think the only snag I have are those damn HV caps, .05@6kv
Anyone have a source? I was going to use 2 banks of 3kv caps in series for the equiv value & voltage OR last resort roll my own with poly sheeting and foil.
Opinions? Sources?

I bought some for my Motorola Golden View a few years back from Allied electronics.

They are pricey, but better than the ceramic caps.
Allied part number 225-6165 for 0.047 @ 6kv. They have other values as well.

It's a fact that Just Radios added the 6000 volt tubular poly caps by popular demand of the electrostatic TV gang, but only the most commonly used values. The largest value they offer is .0047, so Hallicrafters owners still need an additional cap source.

Doesn't the Hallicrafters use .001 & .005; not .01 & .05? Been a long time since I worked on one, but I'm pretty sure on that.

Antique Electronic Supply in Tempe, AZ has them for a reasonable price.

Hallis use a total of six 6Kv caps. Two in each sweep section: .05 in the vertical and .0005 in the horizontal, for which Just Radios 470pF 15kV caps might be considered overqualified. Finally, there are two .001s serving as HV filter caps.
