It's in AZ, too far for me, but after all this talk about Chromacolor IIs I thought somebody might be interested. Actually I've been having a lot of trouble trying to get my Chromacolor II working lately, I'll probably take another look at it this weekend and write more about it then. I've had much better luck with Zenith's later model all tube chasses, every time I've brought one of those home in the past few years it powered right up and worked perfectly.

Don't worry about it, I forgot something too, I forgot to place your positive feedback for those sets I bought off e-bay from you, I remembered a couple weeks ago because I was on there selling some car parts, but it wouldn't let me because I had waited too long. I haven't done anything to those sets either, I've so been busy selling car parts lately, been watching that Zenith though, I haven't done any repairs and it's still going.

Anyway thanks for the offer to look at my chromacolor II, it basically has 3 problems: power supply, vertical, color. The major problem is the power supply, it either won't power up, or if it does, it shuts itself off in a few seconds. I narrowed the problem down to some funky looking repairs on the remote board, I've been staring at the schematic, but because I have less than no idea what is actually going on in this circuit, and no tv books that cover anything this modern, I've been hesitant to really mess with it. I may have fixed the vertical, but it won't stay on long enough for me to be sure. The color problems seem to be caused by a gunked up "chromatic" button.

My schedule for the next few months is busy mon-thrs, free fri-sun.

interesting. Ive never seen a 13" zenith that used the ultrasonic remote. What is this set, about a 1976 model? Is that the correct remote, or did this one use the single one button "space command 100" remote?

This set appears to use the same varactor tuner as the console models so I would think the 4 function remote would be correct...wasn't the 1 button remote just for the older turret type tuners where you would set an inactive channel to activate the power "off" function?

I think it is the correct remote for the set. It could be a '77 or 78' model. The store I worked for as a kid sold a lot of those little guys and I remember they were not light weight sets. If I remember right they even had the big power transformers like the big sets had.

They did weigh a ton! And the reason you don't see many is that they were only $5 or so less than the 17 and 19" models. (around $475)

yup. I remember those 13" sets in my Uncles Zenith shop. I think this model is one of the "crossovers" It uses a Chromacolor 2 chassis but inline tri-focus picture tube (which was for System 3 sets), and I see it uses Color Sentry rather than the "Chromatic" auto color control. Surprised it uses that style of remote tho. And yes... HEAVY and expensive in the day!
