Neighbor had one like this. Looked awful. I'd put that kilobuck towards a new plasma set anyway.

I had to service one of these for a friend. It was a bitch trying to get proper convergence, and the pincoushion was never right.

Even in the dark, the picture contrast was terrible. Worth maybe 20 bucks tops.

AJ's on 44'th & Camelback

My aunt bought one NEW from May Company, and it was $1699. It's a PGR-100WR. Made by Hitachi for RCA. Actually a reliable set, except for the vertical module with the ceramic board on it. But I agree with Jordan; $20 is fair for that TV today.

When people list TVs for ridiculous figures like this, then the next guy with a similar old TV who knows nothing about it, will check eBay and THINK that these prices are what they're worth. Just like fools who pay $1,000,000 for a 2-bedroom house on 1/16th of an acre in Los Angeles "because since the one up the street sold for that, this one is worth the same". Go figure...

It would be interesting to know what they would think about our opinions.
I suspect they would gain the most from donating it for the tax break as the seller is likely to be in such a tax bracket.

Just for the record, the eBay listing fee on that is probably about $25; greater than the value of the TV :saywhat: ... They haven't had one of those super-cheap listing fee specials in awhile. When they do, I hate it because every boob out there can list things right & left that they KNOW aren't worth paying a listing fee for without having to pay. SO we have to wade through 1000s if pieces of junk to find any real deals.

And by the way; speaking of eBay ads: All you prewar collectors, start putting money aside... I happen to know that I will be listing a rare (one of three known to exist) prewar set for a friend. I promised not to blab any details ahead of time, so watch the TV classified here at AK for my announcement of the eBay auction in the next couple weeks. He will not sell privately.

i am in a small town of 2500 people. i sold 8 of those sets the first one cost me wholesale $2650.00 in 1980 a hell of a lot of money. i have that set now and another that was bought with sherrif pay off money. the guy was a bookie and a hit man he was a great friend to me. someone shot him dead in his bed early one morning with his family at home. anyway these were great sets lasted forever and few problems. the 2 i have was run to death and they still show a fair picture. you cant knock these sets as the new trash made today would and cannot hold up to the quality that went into these sets. and i stand firm on this steve

Wasn't that a PJR-500? I recall seeing rear projection sets with that same Hitachi chassis & tubes.
