Philco holiday model, tubes light up but thats all. Anyone have an easy solution?

Hmmm... probably not an easy solution considering it's a Predicta! Are you getting a raster? If there's no raster, no sound, no static... sounds like no B+ voltage... or at least not enough to produce anything.

If you have a raster, then you have B+ and the problem could be a tube... maybe in the tuner or IF.

If the set has original capacitors and filters, it's likely those would need changing.

theres no raster or anything, not even a hum for the sound...i did some research and found that it could be a bad 5.6 ohm fusible resistor. Your right..not an easy solution!

Assuming no sound, no raster, no high voltage;
1. Check for open fuse resistor.
2. Check for shorted diodes.
3. Check for open input electrolytic.
4. Check for B+ short and/or leaky electrolytics in B+ circuit.

The lack of sound and raster might be a fairly simple thing, bad fusible resistor as suggested, bad LV rectifier, (can't remember what that is on a Predicta)
Chances are though once you get it lit it will still need recapped to produce anything watchable.

You can get some idea of what you're in for by looking at Phils Old Radios page, his is a floor model but the chassis is similar.

Well i tryed to turn it on today and i cant even get the tubes to power up now..i think im going to just sell this one..its too much for me. I still have my princess model to work on!

This is why I was able to get my Predicta so cheap. ($35) The other fellow didn't want to fool with it; I plugged in a new fusible resistor and it worked. That is a pretty easy fix. But not too much easy about these machines!
