Here's one I haven't seen... Looks kind of Capehart-ish or Majestic-ish, and I can't make out the name badge. Seller says "OPERA", but that badge doesn't look like Opera to me. So I guess neither the seller nor I can read it :scratch2:

I wonder if it's the badge off of one of those European hi-fi sets of the 60s, that somebody put on that TV? Or is this a Canadian set, maybe? I went through the Sams index, and no possibilities with either an A or an O as the first letter.

I have been watching that set. The price for me is too high. It is only 90 miles from me. I may contact the seller if it does not sell. I also am interested in what it exactly is.

If this set was from Europe (and not intended for export to the USA) it would have needed to be modified to operate at 525i instead of 625i (NTSV vs PAL/SECAM, B&W PAL = B&W SECAM), and have the sound IF strip moved to 4.5MHz instead of a variety of possibilities in Europe (5.5Mhz or maybe 6.5MHz, heard that some places used AM for TV sound (yuck)). And the picture carriers (TV channel frequencies) in Europe are also different than in the USA, though there may be some overlap somewhere in the RF spectra.

The handwriting script badge looks like "Anero" or "Aners" to me. I hate handwriting, a lot of it is unreadable to me. And I'm not talking about doctors here...

IIRC, in France they used an 819 line system, too...This is an odd duck, any way you look at it. Or it could be some el-cheapo store brand special from 1953.

I asked the seller for the make and model of the "mystery" TV, here is his response. Attached are photos he sent.

Yes. It's also very interesting beacuse it is so unusual here. There is another thread going right now about a very American looking Zenith in Italy.

Hi, I own several bw and color very american looking Zenith tvs...they are wonderful. I also have a strange Zenith color tv made to be used with pal system. It also lacks the usual NTSC tint control.
