This series has been running a while now on Discovery channel. Although I don't like crab, or any seafood for that matter...it's amazing how much work these guys do to bring in their catch. Dangerous as hell too!

These are real guys out there trying to make a living so I'd hope Discovery Networks pays these guys something. (Highly rated series with some big-name sponsers).I mean surely the camera crew must be a PITA sometimes, but who knows....maybe it is the crew themselves doing the all the camera work.

Anyway, I like watching this series. Interesting stuff. Any you guys into this show at all?

Yes sir, the Deadliest Catch / Survivorman lineup is a good'n.

Usually clashes my lady's favorite programs, soooo... I've only seen a few episodes.

It's great to get a look into a world so many have heard so much about, but so few have lived / seen. I get the impression of a poker game attitude between the skippers sometimes, but I'm a huge dork.

Killer show. Worth staying up for. As for the camera crews I hope they get payed well as the danger is very real to them also.

Yes, that is some crazy shit, there can't be many jobs worse than that - except for maybe the psycho holding the camera!

One helluva tough job. A friend ogf mine went to do that but he was a bit too heavy- they were afraid he wouldn't be able to do the work due to his weight. But I give him credit for trying.

I just had King crab legs the first time recently. If I was on that boat, I'd be eating all the profits...

I actually worked on a crab boat (The Eskimo Princess) for a full year back in 1979/80 up in Kodiak, Alaska. I never crabbed out in the Berring Sea like those goofball's on deadliest catch. We only had a 60 foot steel crab boat and just fished around the island of Kodiak. My brother actually still lives up in Kodiak, he's been there since 1971. He was working as a purchasing agent at one of the big canneries in town and got me a job on the maintenance crew. That lasted for the first summer I was up there and then I landed the job on the crab boat. Hell of an experience I had, some good stories to tell my grand kids, when I have some...

They make a LOT of money in a VERY short time(about a month or so, avg about $25k!!)

(of course, you have to be ALIVE to enjoy the money after the fishing tour!!)

Yes, I watch it a lot. I thought it was funny, about the greenhorn wanting to jump off the boat in the middle of the sea!! And also, the stunt the other one did, when he swang off the boat (like tarzian or something)holding only onto a cable or something to prevent him from falling into the freezing water!!(DUMB!!)

Deadliest Catch starts a new season this Tuesday, April 15. I'm looking forward to it. :thmbsp: Any other fans out there?

I love this program. I simply cannot admire enough the guys, and woman, who go into the Bering sea to hunt crab in order to earn an honest buck. Fascinating, unbelievably thrilling, and funny. Even when a stretch is repetitive--whoa! up comes another pot--it is filled with anticipation and edginess.

What working conditions! I get seasick going from Orange County to Catalina Island. Do you think the bait smells? Good thing the wind blows. Cold? Wet? How in the heck can they stand there for hours (days) in a wind with a chill factor of a million below zero?--all while the waves are crashing over them.

One thing bothers me, though, about the guy who fell overboard while trying to tie down the crab pots stored on the deck. How many more years do you think it will take before there is an industry rule that requires a deck hand who goes over the side must be secured by a safety line and harness?

good show watched the first season,when it was really crazy and they did not know when the season would end,the narrator is funny its the guy who does "dirty jobs"

I love the show and watch every week,I first tasted king crab in the late sixties before they got popular.My father who was a machinist for Hyster company when I lived in Portland had a co-worker who would come through the shop on friday and ask who wants crab.He and a friend who had a small plane would fly up to Alaska on the weekend and bring them back on ice in a big cardboard box.Cost 5 dollars for the whole crab they were a huge looking monster to a kid.
