Hi all,

First, let me qualify my statement by saying, the ONLY reason I attended this (so call) movie was that I work as a Direct Support Professional
(working with "special needs" young adults) and this young man wanted to see this movie. Dear God, in my over 50 years of living, I have NEVER seen such a POS movie as "BENCH WARMERS".
This film with past cast members of "Saturday Night Live" has got to be the most STUPID, DUMB, CRUDE, POS ever to come out of Hollywood. My God, I just can't go on.

Followed by the angst felt by all in the theater. finally culminating in the emergence of the dramatic lead into his proper place in todays society. On the bench with a warm bum.

I haven't seen Bench Warmers but one of the worst movies I've ever seen was Practical Magic with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. :no: What a waste of two hours. Keep in mind that I worship at the alter of Ms. Kidman :yes: so I really hated it even with her as the star.

Destined for the Walmart 'Dump Bin' I guess. It did look very sophmoric from the previews, in the same league as Dumb an Dumber.

Guys, I am here to tell you, films such as DUMB and DUMBER, Pee Wee's Big Top, Cabin boy, those Police Academy movies and even that new re-make of the PINK PANTHER with Steve Martin, I would consider ACADEMY AWARD material (I kid you not!) compared to this POS! If I could of left the theatre (something I've ever done) I would of left and asked for a REFUND! Duff, I haven't seen the movie you mentioned but, I bet it's a THOUSAND times better than BENCH WARMERS.
Heck, I mean NICOLE KIDMAN, come on! Henry and Sandy, lol, your comments are pretty darn funny and help ease my pain! I swear, I almost want to RECOMMEND you see this POS film if only to see just how AWFUL this film is and that I am NOT exaggerating!

We saw it in the theater- the projection was off, as the charactors were all "stretched".

The boom mikes were in many, many scenes. You could see the mike moving in many of the scenes.

And one of the aliens was acting like an intergalactic Jack Nicholson, including the drawl and speech pattern. Ugh!

My girlfriend at the time bought it for me on DVD as a gag gift. We were so dissapointed when we watched it- they took the boom mikes out of the scene by re-editing!!!!!! Those were the ONLY funny parts!

I have NEVER seen such a POS movie as "BENCH WARMERS".

A truly miserable film but.....you haven't lived until you see the groaner of all time - "Valley of the Dolls." It even beats such magnum opus films as "ROBOT MONSTER" and "REEFER MADNESS" for sheer awfulness. :yes:

One of the worst I've seen lately was "Proof" with the brokeback mountain guy.. man that movie sucked.. all she did was yell and act crazy and do math.

Big Top Pee Wee was definately no Big Adventure, but Cabin Boy holds me in a very strange and intense grip of affinity. Of course I like Chris Elliot and Brian Doyle-Murphy together, so yes.. I watched Get a Life. :smoke:

"In loved it!" - my daughter. And she did. I didn't think it was too bad. It was certainly better than Date Movie. That was a bad movie.

Once again I say that "Valley of the Dolls" is a worse movie than "Bench Warmers." It's even worse than "GI Jane", "Showgirls", and "Dogs and Cats."

I vote for Bounce with Ben AFlack or better spelled bad actor... my girlfriend at the time sprung big bucks for us to see this movie in a high end theater. it was all i could do to stay awake. horrible. I stuck through it for her since she sprung for it.. only to find out later she thought it sucked too. she wished we would have gone to the car for some hanky panky instead.. well we did later lol.

St Elmo's Fire goes on my list of wretched movies although an 18 yr old Demi Moore looked nice and slutty.
I know its a made for TV movie Steven Kings IT... the epitomoe of bad acting and just wretched... I am a huge fan of the book ... I loved Kings choices of actors for the movie... but it looked soo forced and the dialog is wretched. Would love to see Peter Jackson remake it into a 9 hour trilogy.

Hey, I watched Monolith Monsters about ten times as a kid. Lola Albright, what a hottie. meaniced by large phallic rock croppings. Wooo Hoo man!!!!

Can't remember the name of the movie but Rutger Hauer was in it. Some military action flick. I like Rutger Hauer and lots of explosions. After 5 minutes I had to turn it off.

You want really bad sleeper. Andy Warhol's 1st movie, a silent film called "Sleep" was 6 hours long. It was suppose to be 8 hours. You guessed it. It was about a guy sleeping.

NO list of really horrendous movies would be complete without the inclusion of the cinematic butchery of Tom Wolfe's, Day of the Locust. The book was no literary masterpiece, but was sent to heretofore unheard-of depths in the film rendition.

Bench Warmers can't be worse than Date Movie. I was treated to this steaming pile of dung on DVD at work last night. I don't know what the hell Alysson Hannigan was doing starring in this POS. Now there is one hot red head, and after her success in American Pie flicks and with her sitcom, they must have paid her a gazillion dollars to appear in this film. We love bad movies because they make us laugh. Maybe we didn't laugh while suffering through one, especially at today's ticket prices, but we almost always laugh afterwards. We get the joke, even if the producers and filmmakers did not.

When they start out with the premise of being idiotic, and they hit it right on the nose, they are just crappy movies. The WORST "films" are the ones with pretensions of greatness, where they are aiming for great pathos and stumble over their shoelaces. I hate the ones with great casts that go absolutely NOWHERE. Did anyone see "Falling in Love"? DeNiro and Streep. Can't miss, right? They had exactly zero chemistry. Shouldn't people who are having a torrid affair look like they care? It would have worked better if they had hated each other's guts. Shoulda ben called "Falling Asleep."

Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. A movie that has absolutely nothing to do with the Halloween franchise, features an annoying jingle that will take you many years to forget, plus has a rather gruesome decapitation scene.

H3 is a good choice. Talk about coming out of left field. But the one thing it had going for it to me was the UNhappy ending, not very tinseltownish.

I liked copland a lot but it was panned by many/most? I think fat/slow sly was too much for some to take.

One of the most disappointing films for me was SW Attack of the Clones. Phantom menace wasn't very good but I left the $2 theatre during Clones, all special effects & no chemistry. :cry:

Ocean's 12 is dreadful. Battlefield Earth with Travolta as an Alien is torturous. The Avengers is unwatchable although somehow, I finished it. I dislike trilogy movies that get worse with each new one. The Stars Wars and Matrix Trilogies come to mind.

The POS movie I want to see but will never because it is unobtanium is Heaven's Gate, the first theatrical release version. It played for one week before being pulled and then was re-edited for 8 months and then re-released as a shorter three hour movie. It still bombed.

I loved Forbidden Zone. Highly stylized backdrops (reminiscent of that Red Hot Chili Peppers video), the hot topless chicks, bizarre storyline, and I am catching myself singing the alphabet song as I type...

The Frank Zappa comparison is apt, as there is a lot of tastelessness.

I made a friend of mine watch it -- one of those friends from the 70's to whom it was "all a blur" -- still kind of a Deadhead, but cleaned up -- you know the kind I mean? His response: "not enough drugs in the world exist to make me enjoy that movie".

Yeah, they're real. And revolting. It came out in the early-to-mid 80's I believe. But like you said- revolting. I did watch it though... :smoke: I don't really remember any animals being killed, but I wouldn't be able to watch that. Alien was good, Aliens was better. T2 was more entertaining than Terminator but not as pure. The second Star Trek Move (Kahn) was the best, it was downhill after that. "The Search for Spock", horrible.

Star Trek and Star Wars don't really count, as they're more "series" than "sequels".

So, in my case, it'd be more like 90% thumbs-downs, and only the occasional jewel is to be found in the rough.

Well, I don't think Adam Sandler is funny (or many of the SNL graduates, either), but his movies are at least not revolting. All time worst I've seen so far, with worst production values, poorest acting, dumbest plot and grossest scenes is Pink Flamingos. I liked some of Waters other productions, but this was revolting (and my standards are pretty low).

Benchwarmers certainly wasn't great, but I don't think it was even the worst SNL-alum-coaching-inept-suburban-kids sports movie in the last two years. Will Ferrell's Kicking and Screaming gets that honor.

I can carry the theme a little further and name the worst movie of the 21st century thus far: Frequent SNL host Steve Martin, playing a football coach, in the 2003 remake of Cheaper By The Dozen.

Hmm, as far as the worst SNL alum movie, that award belongs to Caddyshack 2.

I think the worse movie I've seen was Dungeons & Dragons. Talk about a movie that just shouldn't have been made.

Although I must admit I didn't enjoy Andalusian Dog either when forced to watch it in film studies either.

I agree. Freddy got fingered is the worst I've see. Followed by the Blair Witch project.
It pisses me off to think I watched all of both.

A while back, I bought the "Smokey and the Bandit Pursuit Pack", which includes all three movies. The original has always been one of my fav comedies. Part II didn't quite capture the magic of the original for me and parts of it were just plain rediculous, nut it was entertaining. Now... #3? Watched it for the first time the other week and that's got to be the absolute worst piece of movie-making ever! They must've had like a $12 budget for that film. Awful! Just awful!

Without a doubt the worst I've ever seen was the 1978 movie "Uchu kara no messeji " aka "Message from Space" with Vic Morrow and Sonny Chiba.

I rented one of the worst movies I ever seen last week. I think it was called Trailer Park Trash. It starred that Pressly girl from My name is Earl. Boy it was bad.

Sword of Doom is pretty bad, mostly because I had such high hopes from Mifune, and the fact that it was on Criterion.

I haven't seen it yet, because it hasn't had its gala sendoff yet, but I nominate "Rocky Balboa." Thanks, Sly. We needed a movie about a 5-4, 60 year old heavyweight boxer. I wish they had let those guys he supposedly beat in the other movies actually fight that dipstick. He was brilliant in 'copland', but of course being driven entirely by ego, that will be his one contribution to cinema. Rambo II was on the other night. Saw the only two minutes of any Rambo movie I've ever seen, and was laughing out loud. He was planning to "go back in," and the Dick Crenna character was talking with some other guy about him being "a natcha born fightin machine" or something equally absurd. Which, in the theme of things, rhymes with "turd."

addendum:
you have to give credit to movies that are so bad they are great. My then girlfriend and I went to "Legends of the Fall" in the theater, and those post-stroke scenes by Anthony Hopkins are uproariously funny. They were going for a sweeping, epic drama and ended up with a bucket of vomit. If they were not so avidly chewing the scenery, it wouldn't have been quite so bad. Which made it good, as a comedy.

Anything with Richard Gere (tho he was good in "Chicago") and anything with Hugh Grant. stutter stammer stammer stammer stutter. That is SO cute and charming. And that accent... It doesn't even matter to me that he's a nebbish with that accent.
