View Full Version : Budwiser commercials
Fast_Eddie 05-06-2006, 08:26 PM Ok, I like bear ok. I'm more a wine guy, but I've had plenty of Budwiser. But what's with the commercials they're running right now?
"This is what I am"
What defines you as a person is BEER????
"This is where I'm from. This is what I believe in when the day is done"
You need to get a life! It's beer for christ sake! It's not what you believe in or who you are! This makes me want to never drink another Bud in my life!
Ok, I feel better now.

RussinOhio 05-06-2006, 08:41 PM Most beer commercials are stupid. Ditto car commercials.......except this guy, this guy is cool!

Sorry Ed! Did'nt mean to hi-jack your thread brining up the "Vee-Dub" guy! Yes the commercials are funny as hell!
Now as far as beer commercials go.....what beer was it that used the Eric Clapton song "After Midnight"? I can't remember.

OvenMaster 05-06-2006, 09:31 PM I dunno, but IMHO, beer commercials are just about the funniest thing on television. Most of the time, commercials are boring, but every now and then a commercial will come along and prove my contention that most ads are funnier than the shows they're sponsoring.

To be sure, but these Bud commercials aren't funny. They're some kind of core of belief kind of thing and what they say is kind of lame. I mean really- this is who I am? Budwiser is who I am?

Mark W. 05-06-2006, 09:43 PM Ed if you are suseptable to this kind of advertising I suggest you turn off the set and back away.
That's all I have to say I'm now going in the Kitchen and twisting the top on a Bud in a nice tall bar bottle.
Oh by the way Don't think I have ever see the comercials you mention. I buy bud cause I like it and them boys is made in America.

Well, I think my post demonstraits that I'm NOT suseptable to such ads. For the record, I work at a TV station and make ads for a living.
Ed
OvenMaster 05-07-2006, 05:40 AM Like Mark, I haven't seen the particular ads you're mentioning. Ed, I do see your point, however, that a man should not be defined and described by the beer he drinks. That's getting into psychological issues like self-esteem, and self-awareness, the values in life that one holds sacred, and how one relates to others in a society. In that context, I do agree with you that the very concept of the ad campaign as described is idiotic. If you make ads for a living then you surely have some extra insight as to the messages that advertising tries to get across.
Tom
yes i to agree,
its kind of like the TRUTH ads, they make me want to smoke because the ads are so stuped "why dont tabacoo companies have to put a list of ingrediants on there product" because the only ingrediant is tabacoo you dip shits... its like asking someone to write down the chemicles that make up an apple... you just say its an apple
there now i feel better too
piece-it pete 05-08-2006, 11:23 AM When walking throught the warehouse I ask the lead man - "What is Bud?"
He says - "Beer.".
Effective commercial, as I always thought it was pisswater.
Just kidding - be calm ;) . I've always thought they should stay with "King of beers", 'cause it is.

Russ, that would be Michelob. I wonder if EC got free beer for life as a perk for doing that commercial? I've always been fond of any Bud commercials with the Clydesdales. Especially the Christmas one.

Henry Kloss 05-08-2006, 01:21 PM I think my dept load defines who I am as a person.
The beer just dulls that definative feeling somewhat.
JerryM 05-08-2006, 03:36 PM Anheiser-Busch generally has some of the better commercials on TV. Remember the lobster ad aired during the Superbowl? Hilarious.

The lizards, Frank and Louie were good too, as were the frogs ("Bud.......wise........er")
SPL db 05-08-2006, 03:44 PM In my best Homer Simpson voice,
Mmmmmmmm...... beeeeeeer... :D

Sandy G 05-08-2006, 04:53 PM I always liked the "Bud...Wise...Err" ads, too..I'm dating myself here, but how many remember "Mabel...Black Label !! Carling Black Label Beer !!" I think by the time I was old enuff to drink beer, they were long gone...
bigstereo 05-09-2006, 07:22 AM Ha! Actually I do remember that commercial and even the little tune in it. It started with two note whistle then "Mabel. Black Label Beeeeeer".
That was a big selling beer around these parts when I was little.
RJ
SPL db 05-09-2006, 08:19 AM Anyone remeber the commercial for Raineer beer with the motorcycle going through the gears?
Raaaaaaaai... neeeeeeeeeeer... beeeeeeeeeer...
As the bike would come at you from a distance.
Scott
Sandy G 05-09-2006, 08:29 AM Remember Schlitz beer? We used to quaff "Tall Boys" back in the day,but no more. Miller had those cute little "pony" bottles-you'd chug a few of 'em, & then it was Stupid Time...They DID make stop signs go "BRAAAAANNNNG !" pretty nicely as you busted one on some poor, unsuspecting sign.
Jim Eck 05-09-2006, 08:47 AM I remember Schlitz beer, at one time it was considered a very premium beer. They had it on tap at the Sazerack, got good and drunk on it when I was about 18. The next morning it was more like Shitz beer, kept me close to home for the morning.

Actually in cigarettes there are a good deal of additives. When tobacco growers age leaves for tobacco a lot of time the nicotine and ammonia that drains from the leaves is added back into the cheaper product. Also, anything that does not require a humidor most likely has propylene glycol or another preservative added as well. Just about the only thing I've encountered so far that's ONLY tobacco is from my friend's cigar shop. http://www.habanostorres.com/ The tobacco in pipe tobacco as well as the cheaper brands of shishah really scares me as you have no clue about some of the additives.
