Wow.I posted about some older solid state parts.Lots of used Zenith stuff and no one wants them or Maryland is too far away from everyone.It's all free.It must be the latter because Bryan can't get takers on his freebies either.No one even seems to want any of the old solid state tvs I was giving away either.2 were Chromacolor II and several early Sonys.Oh well guess it all goes to the dump.If I can get any life out of the old tvs without having to resort to trobleshooting and repair(no time) I may donate them to the Salvation Army.

Zenith loaded up repair shops with circuit boards. Any shop in operation since 1970 has gobs of boards laying around. I wouldn't get too excited, because the boards are the ones that did not break!

Don't feel bad, I have tried many times to give away tube type color sets as well with no results. Most of us have limited budgets and cannot afford to have the items delivered. Heck, gas prices keep my truck and I away from items farther than 50 miles!
Many people in this state and others are struggling to keep the bills paid as well, myself included...

Unfortunately I have to draw the line somewhere, and I've drawn the line at bringing home solid state stuff. I had a pile of modules at one time, mostly rebuilt Admirals, but in a weak moment I tossed them. Heck, I don't own anything that used them and nobody on here is ever looking for them so I guess my decision was right. It does seem ashame to see the Zenith modules tossed.

I was tempted by the old post offering solid state tv sets as there was an Admiral in that pile, which might be neat. But, no, I just can't do it! I had mentioned to Veg, we really need to find someone else in MD who wants this stuff-between the 3 of us we could set somebody up with a nice collection for next to nothing!

If I wasn't 3000 miles away I would want the Zenith stuff, I was completely off solid state stuff for a while, but then after reading here how great the early Zeniths were, I'm back on them now. But atleast I still don't just pick up every solid state tv I see, like I used to years ago, or like I do with the tube sets.

Or Delaware.Can't believe there is no one from Delaware on here.I'm just glad I found you to take the tube sets off my hands.Heck if there was anyone within a hundred miles of here that wanted some stuff I'd meet them halfway.The shop needs to get cleaned out some and i don't want to take any of it home.I'll try to get the Chromacolors and 70s Sonys going and offer them on freecycle.Someone will surely take free color tvs even if not cable ready (hopefully).Had no takers on several 12" b/w sets so to the Salvation Army they went.Sometimes they throw old stuff away.Some times it gets through as that RCA you got from Goodwill did.I only hope my uncle's old 1968 Zenith combo found a new home and not the Salvation Army's dumpster.I used to go once a week every week when it was donated (Summer 2000)and never saw it. :worried: My cousin said they put it on one end in the truck. :no: :eek:

JC, I did get rid of one set, a 1980 Sears 19 incher, to some folks in Millsboro via freecycle. They needed a video game set for the kids. There is one member on here from Delaware, not too far from you, but unfortunately he is not a packrat!

Oodles of them.Lots of used modules.Most were good pulls but don't know if some are bad since I have no System 3s to check them on.I believe all the good 9-155-01 crt boards are gone as well as what few 9-160 power supplys I have left are parts only.I threw about 2 dozen cannibalized boards away.Kept the Horizontal output xsistor and dual filter cans if still present.There may be some CRT boards that still have the ceramic resistor elements intact though.Plenty of 9-151s,9-152s,9-154s from the early version,tuner control modules.Lots of small trim parts and control assys new in the box.A bunch of Chromacolor II modules here too.

Especially the 9-181-02, IIRC, from what I learned here, my red screen problem is usually on that board in a resistor assembly. What part of Maryland is he in? Would he consider shipping if I cover the cost of doing so?

P.S. - I would have checked back a little sooner but one of my cats passed away on Saturday but before that I was trying to keep him alive. Greystone had kidney failure and he was only turned 5 years old. He is my avatar.

Damn man, I'm sorry. My cat Shoes just died a little over a month ago from kidney failure. He was 13. He had been a family member for over 10 years. You never really realize how much of a family member they become until they croak.

I know. Greystone passed on April 15th, the day before Easter and we laid him to rest on Easter Sunday. I'm using Greystone as my avatar. He was only, barely, 5 years old and had kidney failure. Well, less than two weeks later, another one of my cats got very sick. Buddha (Boo) got sick, he is 16 years old and a black cat. Well, we took him to the vets and at first, thet thought kidney failure. They ran tests, nope, his organs were OK. Then they X-rayed him to look for any cancers. Nope, no cancers. So it was diagnosed as a massive infection, one of his teeth doesn't look good so maybe it could be that where it could have been a abcess. Operation Save Greystone became Operation Save Boo. He is doing OK now, Thank God, we thought we were going to lose him too.

The only other cat I have under medical care is Pansy, she has a hyperactive thyroid, but it is easily controlled with medicine, she will be 19 in August.
